One and Half Million Dollars in Projects for San Sauveur, on Dominica 2San Sauveur, Dominica – Wednesday, August 27, 2014 – Five contracts totalling over 1.5 million dollars have been signed for various projects in the San Sauveur/ Petite Soufriere communities. The contracts were signed at the Fifteenth Inaugural Meeting of the San Sauveur/Petite Soufriere Village Council on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at the San Sauveur Primary School.
Deonson Gregoire and Matthew Gustave have each been awarded a contract to construct five, two bedroom housing units in San Sauveur. The ten houses will include kitchen, living-room and toilet and will provide much needed housing to people of San Sauveur affected by natural disasters. Each contract is in the amount of six hundred and ninety-six thousand, six hundred and forty-one dollars and twenty-five cents ($696,641.25). The construction phase is expected to last four months.
One and Half Million Dollars in Projects for San Sauveur, on Dominica 3Cecil Ravaliere has been awarded a contract to construct thirty feet of covered concrete drains at the intersection of the Good Hope to San Sauveur Road and the road leading to the San Sauveur Housing Scheme. The contract is valued at twelve thousand, four hundred and four dollars and seventy-five cents ($12,404.75). Construction is expected to last three weeks.
One and Half Million Dollars in Projects for San Sauveur, on Dominica 4Peter Constant has been awarded a contract in the amount of fifty-three thousand, seven hundred and eighty-five dollars and fifty-eight cents ($53,785.58) for the paving of 250 feet of roadway leading to the San Sauveur Housing Scheme. The road will be 16 feet wide and no less than four inches thick. Construction is expected to last three weeks.
The Government has through the San Sauveur/ Petite Soufriere Village Council provided over sixty-thousand dollars for the construction of a retaining wall at Liveire Leui. The contract for the project was signed between Chairman of the San Sauveur/ Petite Soufriere Village Council Kimanie Mourillon and contractor Simon Alie in the amount of sixty-thousand and fifty-five dollars and eighty-eight cents ($60,055.88).
Prime Minister and Minister for Finance the Honourable Roosevelt Skerrit welcomed the contract signings describing the projects as necessary for the people of San Sauveur and Petite Soufriere. Prime Minister Skerrit stated that the contract will provide employment and economic enhancement for the area.
“Every one of the contractors is from this part. I am hoping that they can employ as many people as possible from this part of the country so that … every single dollar will stay and help the economy of these communities,” Prime Minister Skerrit stated.
Parliamentary Representative for the Castle Bruce Constituency which included San Sauveur and Petite Soufriere Honourable Johnson Drigo is excited about the investments in his constituency. Honourable Drigo stated that this is another instance of promises made and promises kept by the Dominica Labour Party Administration.
The projects are expected employ well over fifty people.
