Why not force the courts and judges to give the strictest penalties on the criminals, rather than punish leag and safe gun owners?

@Juju Pelino That doesn’t mean they have less violence overall. There are also places with very few gun laws and very little gun crime. Rates of crime and violence are far more closely related to standard of living
Handguns are already highly regulated and difficult for law abiding citizens to own.
Thugs however don’t live within the comprehensive regulations of handgun ownership.
Prosecute thugs not legal gun owners.

To legally obtain a handgun in Ontario you have to complete two 10 hour fire arms courses, and then pass a police back round check that can take months.
How many of these homicides and attempted murders with guns/handguns are done with LEGAL handguns though? They’ll never tell ya that part because it is a tiny, tiny %.
