  1. The problem never was the legal gun owners. The last outrage in Nova Scotia was performed by someone who did not have any legal guns as he didn’t have a license. Liberals don’t want to admit that letting criminals out of prison early is just a bad idea. Legal gun owners are just an easier target that accomplishes nothing.

    1. @Landon Breeden Assault weapons have been illegal in Canada for over forty years. And illegally smuggled guns didn’t start being legal here. You are fooling yourself if you actually believe that this will stop any violence.

    2. @CanadianGirlsKickAss actually it is look it up. Right now they have a huge problem with machete gangs.

    3. @Julius Cajanding The term “assault rifle” by definition is a “selective fire rifle, firing an intermediate cartridge, from a high capacity box magazine”. Selective fire meaning it can fire fully automatic (machine guns). NONE of the firearms in this new banned list are assault rifles. They are all semi-auto only. All the high capacity magazines were banned 20 + years ago.

  2. Liberals have a minority government. Open Parliament and let Canadians decide. Justin’s dictator days are almost over.

    1. @zyla seager pretty much any politician in a constitutional monarchy is a dictator. And the point of there being due process in government for bills is because there is an ability to state fact. Hence why the cz858 and swiss arms rifles that were prohibited 3 years ago had the decision reversed.

    2. Let’s seriously hope so, but memories are short (particularly since he legalized pot).

  3. As long as Canada doesn’t protect its border, illegal guns, like the one used by Gabriel Wortman in Nova Scotia, will keep coming into our country.

    1. Liberals don’t care about real results, they just want to sell Canadians the illusion that they are doing something.

    2. Yup, as an American, I know we are the problem. We have the same issue at our southern boarder with Mexico. The Mexican government makes it very difficult to obtain a firearm, yet Mexico is awash in firearms because of the ease with which they can be obtained in the USA.

    3. Ch He wow I know that about 95 percent of our guns that are used in crimes come from the u.s. I wonder what percentage of those originally come from Mexico. I believe more gun control increases the illegal trade even more!

  4. Doug is a premiere who will stand up to Trudeau. I am so impressed. I sincerely hope that Trudeau and Blair listen to common sense.

    1. They won’t. They’ll just shout the party line “Enough is enough!” until they drown sensible voices out completely.

  5. I’m way more concerned about illegal guns and drugs, more concerned with drugs though. I don’t know anyone who died from gun violence, I knew a lot of young Canadians who died from foreign drugs.

    1. Check out the stats on how many die from prescription drugs. Three times I have been attacked by prescription drugs and adverse reactions. Drugs and vaccines laced with heavy metals is demonic. No one can be held responsible for vaccines damage either.

  6. What??? How much money will be spent to buy back legal guns from theirs owners??? Seriously!!! Oh yes this move will most certainly reduce acts of violence. Well a few years ago there was no money for our veterans?? Just throwing our money down the drain. The rich spoiled sock boy does it again!!

    1. And those are TAX DOLLARS. When the inevitable taxes rise, all that money will be back in government hands, which equates to a GUN CONFISCATION.

  7. I despise guns, and gun violence. When it comes to gun controls, I prefer the government not punish those who don’t break the laws.
Go after the illegal weapons smuggled in, and lock up the gang members.

    1. Police and governments dont fight REAL DANGEROUS crime, it s much easier to harass law abiding citizens

    2. You would be surprised all the hopes you have to jump to get licensed in Canada. At any point after you submit your application, you are considered a risk to public safety, you’re license goes bye bye and you get a visit from the rcmp. Has anyone ever heard of CPIC.

  8. Worst.PM.Ever! This ban will do nothing to make the average Canadian safer. How would this have stopped NS? Wortman used illegally obtained firearms. Stop illegal firearms trafficking and address crime and mental illness rather than wasting taxpayer money harassing average law abiding citizens.

    1. Tork Ayromlou LOL..were you offended by his “ thugs and lowlifes” comment? Where do you fit in?

    2. @Tork Ayromlou that was his brothers issues, what does that have to do with doug ford, and todays issues.

  9. Finally some commonsense governmental verbal commentary on this issue. Now whats next ??

    1. nah.. they pushed it underground.. outdoor ranges in the middle of nowhere were already the better place to do your sport shooting anyways..

now we have zero incentive to not have automatics though.. bet the prison sentence would be the same for automatic firearms and the newly banned rifles

    1. Zinnia – Actually it’s the bullets that kill. It’s just that the guns make them go real fast.

  10. The real problem here is weak border security. There is no excuse for Illegal weapons and drugs to be still coming into our country with today’s technology and after how long we have been fighting the never ending losing battle.

  11. When Doug Ford can go on tv and have a reasonable plan based on evidence it really puts Trudeau to shame.

    1. It’s amazing how low our federal government sets the bar when someone comes out and speaks common sense we are stunned.

  12. I’m really starting to love doug ford. Probably the first time in my life I feel like a politician is representing my interests on a personal level
