@ridingwithdavid alberta has contributed almost the same amount of money in equalization payments to the federal government from 1961-2017 as ontario with 1/3 of the population. I think you have got it backwards my dude. When alberta isnt shut down by the federal government we have always paid more then our fair share of taxes. Where will quebec get its welfare money from if the west leaves. Their going to leach it from somewhere.
@Zach Becklake Equalization payments have no doubt been large over the years, I was merely speaking about generated tax revenues paid by the population. Ontario has by far the largest population, we have among the highest tax rates, land transfer taxes, and sales tax..( Decades of Liberal governments at work). It will be interesting to see what the transfer payments will be with our Federal govt. Actively trying to destroy the oil patch
