In an extraordinary rebuke, the Pentagon and several senior members of the US military called out Fox News host Tucker Carlson on Thursday for a sexist segment in which he mocked women serving in the armed forces.
Carlson, who is effectively the face of Fox and hosts the top show on the right-wing channel, ridiculed President Joe Biden Tuesday for saying that the US military had created uniforms to fit women properly, created maternity flight suits for those who are pregnant, and updated requirements for hairstyles.
"So we've got new hairstyles and maternity flight suits," Carlson snarked. "Pregnant women are going to fight our wars. It's a mockery of the US military."
Carlson's comments have prompted severe backlash from some of the most senior members of the US military who took to Twitter on Wednesday and Thursday to call Carlson out for what they described as harmful and divisive rhetoric.

France, large parts of Italy, and other regions are back in lockdown. Roughly 20,000 Europeans die of Covid-19 each week.
Brussels, by comparison, took a conservative, budget-conscious approach that left the open market largely untouched. And it has paid for it.

In Washington, Operation Warp Speed, the Trump administration’s vaccine program, had a $10 billion budget. European officials say it’s unfair to compare the two figures because neither amount is a complete picture of all the money spent on vaccines. The message was that while we were there, we were victimized, subjugated and discriminated against. The research used to compile this data is not only committed to the historical record but it is affirmed by my own life and the life of my family both immediate and distant. Some of the people being fire hosed in Alabama by the Alabama Police in the ’60’s archived video were my ACTUAL family members. My ACTUAL family members served in Vietnam and world war II. We know a lot about institutionalized discrimination first hand, sir. This is not even the point. I know that Tucker’s statements are taken out of context to some degree. My point is that until he qualifies the statements he made against how they were received, there is going to be unnecessary discrepancy. In my opinion he should just say that he supports women in the military and that he recognizes and appreciates their service. This alone will speak volumes towards resolving the misunderstanding. I don’t think he’s done that yet, has he?

Those are anecdotal incidents. You said that b—ks were discriminated by the military as a way of saying thats why inclusion in the military is good. No, they weren’t. B—ks were allowed in the military. Being discriminated against would be if they weren’t allowed in at all.
Those incidents do not prove systemic country wide racism or discrimination. I don’t even know the details of that specific situation but I almost guarantee you that if I researched more into it there is a lot more to it then just racist police officers doing that to completely innocent b—k people just because of the color of their skin. When other people have described incidents like they to me and then I look them are there are tons of details the person left out which, when included, completely change the narrative.
Bottom line, this doesn’t show country wide systemic large widespread racism. One incident happening to people doesn’t show that.
He did say he supports women in the military you just won’t accept him saying that regardless of how he says it.

Next, my mind certainly would be changed if Tucker accepted responsibility for the confusion of the moment by giving the people who are negatively affected by his statement the chance to hear him qualify that statement which would show his solidarity for the women in military. Lastly and most importantly, it makes sense to me that you wouldn’t be aware directly by experience of being the direct victim the kind of racial discrimination that happened (is happening) in the US and in the military. These occurrences are not “one-offs”, sir. It would take days for me to tell you about first hand, very real accounts of the precise systematic, institutionalized racism that we’re talking about in the military or in civilian life against people of color..(my people specifically) and even then, I’m not sure that you would totally grasp the depth of what I’m saying. Certainly not because you lack the intelligence, capacity or compassion, but because your experiences and therefore your reactions (verbal or otherwise) are not the same as the people who have had such experiences. You strike me as a passionate, reasonable human being. As such I wish I had an opportunity to walk you through a living perspective of US history; that is, from the mouths of the people beyond (and including) myself who’ve lived through racial subjugation…I suspect you have not encountered that yet. It’s not even about being one off instances. When something is systemic there are rules in an organization that directly discriminate against a group of people. It’s not about the specific instances. It’s about the organization’s official rules that directly say certain groups can’t do certain things specifically and only because they belong to a certain group. Do you have a rule like that the military had against specific groups of people? That’s what systemic racism is. Also why systemic racism doesn’t exist in the us today. You can’t name me any specific racist law that governs the entire population.
