Borje Salming was a shining light during one of the darkest periods in Maple Leaf history.
Many thought Salming would never last, and wanted to make sure he didn’t.
All he did was become the franchise leader in every offensive record for a defenseman. All while receiving interference from every angle, almost effortlessly.
Borje Salming showed the entire hockey world that Europe belonged in the NHL, and his influence still drives players today.
Which makes the sharp decline from ALS that much more heartbreaking.
Rest in Peace, Borje. You deserved so much better.
A true legend! Rest in peace King Borge! I hope the team will NOW play harder than ever to win a cup in his honor!!!
