Mrs Paulina Williams named 2008 Cultural Elder

 

choir_at_delices_heritahe_day_2008.jpgRoseau, Dominica – November 10, 2008…….. President of Dominica, His Excellency,      Dr. Nicholas Liverpool, Prime Minister, Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit, Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Alix Boyd-Knights were among dignitaries at Heritage Day in Delices on Sunday, October 26, 2008.

 

The day featured a Church Service in the morning, followed by an Agricultural, Industrial and Artistic Exhibition at noon and climaxed with a spectacular Cultural Gala and the honouring of a Cultural Elder in the afternoon.

The 2008 Cultural Elder is Mrs. Paulina Williams from Delices. She was born on June 30th 1924 and has seven children.

 

Heritage Day is held in a different community every year and the idea behind it is to highlight the particular community, its special characteristics, the special interests of the population and also to highlight the agricultural, industrial and cultural achievements of the particular community. A special feature during the day’s activities is to pay tribute to an outstanding cultural elder in the community.
