Pulmonologist: George Floyd Died From ‘Low Level Of Oxygen’ | MSNBC

During the trial of Derek Chauvin, Dr. Martin Tobin, a pulmonologist and critical care specialist, testified that George Floyd died of a low level of oxygen that caused his heart to stop. Tobin attributed this to Floyd being handcuffed while on the ground and Chauvin's positioning on top of his body. Aired on 04/08/2021.

Pulmonologist: George Floyd Died From 'Low Level Of Oxygen' | MSNBC

    1. @Roy Harper Nope, that’s already been discounted, but nice try. The levels of Fentenayl in his system was a low level, an amount that would be prescribed to a patient (did you not watch it?). You guys need to drop this, it’s getting boring..

    2. @Christopher Wayne no I haven’t been able to watch the trial I have been working, so are you saying that the following is fake news? Where is testimony you are referring to? please provide witness name. “His blood was drawn immediately after death at Hennepin County Medical Center. The official autopsy report shows a concentration of 11 nanograms per milliliter.

      How much is that?

Handwritten notes taken when the Medical Examiner briefed prosecutors on his findings suggest it was very high – but not necessarily fatal.

“If he were found dead at home alone and no other apparent causes, this could be acceptable to call an O.D. [Over Dose],” the notes say.

“Deaths have been certified with levels of 3,” the notes indicate. “But I am not saying this killed him.”
Deaths have been certified at a level of 3 but Floyd’s was 11 and you’re telling me someone testified under oath that the fentanyl in Floyd’s system was low? Where? Like I said before if that is the case then the defense already has counter argument since the statement I provided you was from the medical examiner.

    3. @Roy Harper Watch the testimony of Dr Bill Smock, a forensic medical specialist as well, who said there was no evidence of an overdose to meth or Fent, nor any heart problem that caused his death, only *lack of oxygen*

    4. @Christopher Wayne he says nothing about overdosing plus if you search you tube you can find a guy who filmed himself with someone’s legs and back (2 people) the same way Floyd had and he had no problems breathing whatsoever. In fact he was talking fine

    5. @Roy Harper Look, you need to watch the full testimony, all these excuses were refuted. What, some guy on YouTube filmed something and they were talking fine? 😆 OMG I suspect nothing would convince you, even if Chauvin confessed, night night

  1. It’s an obvious conclusion based on the video but it’s good to have scientific backing that terrible sight.

    1. Not following due process in convicting is like not following due process when arresting someone. Patience grasshopper.

  2. When we need to explain to people that humans use oxygen for life, and what happens when a person acts in a way to deplete another person of oxygen… 😔

    1. The defense is trying to prove something. The doctor knows their game and he’s saying it as plainly as he can. He’s playing chess, my man.

    2. @Thomas Armsworthy Jr Stop with this BS. The shooting in NC has NOTHING to do with what Chauvin did. Chauvin is clearly guilty so far, and that has no bearing on what happened in NC. Chauvin can be guilty and the NC shooting can be a hate crime, both at the same time.

    1. @Peter Stoops did you even bother to watch todays testimony? The doctor practically but that notion oo rest. He didn’t die from drugs. Go back and watch his testimony, the doctor was an absolute slam dunk for the state. Case closed

    2. @Steven Leonard the obvious reality is fentanyl Floyd dies from a combo of drugs and being held down. And the jury’s verdict will reflect that. Mark my words.

    3. @Steven Leonard He died from lack of oxygen, a knee on back of your neck doesn’t reduce oxygen, covid does, and fentanyl does

    4. @Rus Buda The fact is your hero Chauvin murdered a handcuffed defenceless man like the coward he is and will be convicted. Mark my words.

  3. My buddy had a couple of beers at a local pub. As he was getting into his car, another car crashed into him killing him instantly. The coroner said he died from too much alcohol. RIGHT!

    1. @Sarah Shah You’ve already came to the conclusion that chauvin is guilty. Why?
A few days after Floyd’s death there was a clip circulating on Reddit with the title ‘longest video of the incident’ or something like that, suggesting it contains the full footage available. Of course, I’ve watched it, because I wanted to get the full picture, but it turned out that some pieces were missing in this video that I have seen before on certain news channels.

The camera footage clearly shows foam coming out of Floyd’s mouth. While this does not mean, he deserved to die and that drugs were the cause of death, it should be taken into consideration.

Floyd said he couldn’t breath before laying on the ground.

Floyd was sitting in a car under the influence of drugs and therefore is a potential danger to himself and others. I do want the police to prevent car accidents.

Just because the manner of death says “homicide”, it doesn’t mean Floyd was murdered.

And so on… Maybe, check out Robert Gruler on youtube, he does “law analysis”.

    2. Exactly. It’s like a mass shooter getting off Scott free because the victims happened to have some alcohol or drugs in their systems. It wasn’t the gun, but the glass of Whiskey that caused their ultimate demise…or maybe it was the Tylenol 🙄🙄🙄 it’s beyond outrageous, but I guess any defense team can blame it on anything found in someones’ system. If Floyd didn’t have drugs in his system they’d blame it on too much coffee.🙄🙄🙄

    3. @Patrick Thompson A MEDICAL DOCTOR FOR THE PROSECUTION. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WHEN THE COUNTY CORONER SAYS IT WAS DRUGS?

SAYS THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO FLOYD’S NECK?

      🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

    4. @Sarah Shah HIIIIIIIII FACT CHECKERS.

      1) LETHAL AMOUNT OF FENTENYL 11 NG/ML.
      2) AND METHAMPHETAMINE 19 NG/ML… KNOWN AS A SPEEDBALL.
      3) WEED
      4) CIGARETTES
      5) A YEAR PRIOR ARRESTED WITH CRACK COCAINE.
      6) SEVERE HEART DISEASE AND AN ENLARGED HEART DUE TO CRACK COCAINE USE.
      7) SICKLE CELL ANEMIA.
      8) 90% CLOGGED ARTERIES.
      9) CORONAVIRUS
      10) STATES HE CAN’T BREATHE AND IS CHOKING AT LEAST 7X WHILE IN THE POLICE CAR BEFORE BEING LAID ON THE GROUND.
      11) NO DAMAGE TO HIS NECK AT ALL.

  4. I can hear the defense now. How is a police officer supposed to know this. Answer. Well that why we teach not to do this.

    1. “How is a police officer supposed to know this.” Well, you should have known this since childhood, mr police officer. That thing about when you cannot breathe, you die.
The defense will literally create its own quicksand spot, right under their own feet.

    2. @Ric the defense will most likely ask this man if the symptoms he described are the same for a fentanyl overdose because they are.

  5. I’m not a pulmonologist or an MD.
But the death by low level of oxygen was obvious from the beginning.

    1. Yeah, it doesn’t take a college education to know, if you can’t get oxygen, you’ll die.

    2. @Peter Stoopsexactly, this doctor is speculating especially since the ER doctor who treated Floyd already said the drugs in his system could have caused the asphyxiation. Shallow breaths, reduced oxygen, heart stopping – all symptoms of a fentanyl overdose. This defense should be able to slam dunk this guy

    3. @Roy Harper the doctor said could have. This situation was not just him taking drugs then dying. This clearly had something to do with chauvin knee on the neck and back. Guess why both autopsies declared homicide? People like you just love to pick and choose information on something like this

    4. @Ivan Jimenez-Rico an autopsy that states homicide as the manner of death does not mean murder, look it up. It doesn’t even necessarily indicate a crime has been committed. You are picking and choosing what to believe as much as I am but you already have your mind made up and will not believe anything other than Chauvin murdered him. What you should realize is that the jury is also going to pick and choose what they decide to believe and the fact is the ER doctor gave them a different reason for Floyd dying other than Chauvin.

  6. Love him, ‘f the posh docs; it all means he was not getting any blood with enough oxygen to his brain’

    1. @Trent Bonebrake if the jury can’t fill that bit in for themselves we got a much bigger problem. Silly silly def. trying to pull a fast one with the detective and only part of the tape; has to harm their cred right?

    2. @Peter Stoops I have had fentanyl stuck to me for the last 8 years, docs have not said once to take it off since Covid began, and we get healthcare for free for everyone 🙂 🇬🇧 if anyone is going to try to combined an opioid that works on your brain receptors and Covid that works on your lungs, is just going to get laughed at.. thinking about it, they up’d my dose at the beginning of covid

    3. @Kevin Millin Fentanyl kills, and it kills by slowing down and stopping breathing. Take someone whos body isn’t use to fentanyl, and has the covid virus, and put them on high dose fentanyl they die. You do know people die of Fentanyl? they stop breathing. Your healthcare isn’t free, someone who has a job is paying for it. You should thank all the people with jobs for allowing you to be lazy and live like parasite off of their hard work

  7. We see what happened… and we still need an expert to tell us what happened… and still some believe they know more, and disagree.

    1. Fortunately, their opinions are not being used for this case. We all can have ‘opinions’ but not all are based on fact.

  8. What do you think guy?
As a professional, I say they choked him to death.
Yea looking at the evidence that seems to check out.

  9. Floyd was walking and talking and thus breathing enough to do those things before he was thrown to the ground.

After Mr Chauvin leant with a knee on his neck he said he could not breathe and eventually lost consciousness. Thus it was the the pressure on his neck that impaired his respiration to the extent that his arterial oxygen levels dropped and he lost consciousness and suffered a cardiac arrest.

The other thing a knee rolling on your neck can do is to stimulate the nerves of the carotid sinus (around the carotid artery) which causes slowing and sometimes arrest of the heart even before the oxygen levels have dropped.

If he had illegal drugs in his system, they would not have been good for his health, but the knee pressing down and rolling on his neck was the “novus actus interveniens” that led to the man’s death.

    1. Not saying I’m rooting for Chauvin here but Floyd was actually saying he couldn’t breathe when he was in the cop car. (That was before they put him on the ground).

    2. @Thomas Armsworthy Jr If Chauvin “wins,” i.e. the cop goes Scot-free, which is a distinct possibility with an all-white jury and a biased judge, the city will burn, and not just that one city.

The traditional American solution would be for a mob of the victim’s friends and supporters to drag the accused out of jail, with the help of the local police, and hang him themselves: but that’s just part of white culture.

    3. @Faithless Hound Half the jury are minorities, way out or proportion for the population of the area. I think half are women as well. The prosecution worked for the most likely guilty jury they could find. You should really stop being such a despicable human being as a whole the way you want to talk about white people.

  10. This was essential not because we couldn’t see the obvious but because they will try and spin it that his death was drug related and here we have a medical professional stating it was literally because he couldn’t breathe…not drug related.

  11. the Chauven had BOTH KNEES ON Mr Floyd, NOT just his neck, you can see the toes of the officers shoes on the ground. Full body weight! Why is no one noticing that !

  12. Finally the truth is told .
Who would expect a man that’s held down by his neck in such manner to die of any other causes than what happened to Floyd

  13. Lesson Learned; If you have Covid, and want to get high, don’t resist arrest, because you might end up with a knee on the back of your neck

  14. This witness knocked it out of the park, much respect for Dr Tobin, as a human being the fact that Chauvin has shown zero remorse, zero emotions, zero tears speaks volumes!!!

  15. IRISH PEOPLE HAVE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL HEARTS. GOD BLESS THE IRISH. MUCH LOVE FROM THE BLACK FAMILY 🖤
