They always spend lots of time talking to the commanders. Honestly as a former soldier that is the most common. Canada’s general Hillier would jump into trenches on exercises and talk to the troops. General Leslie would eat lobster on base with other officers in the same scenario. Nobody really cares or wants to see them.
Showing obliterated buildings in the background as a sign to Russian people of how their army ‘liberates’ eastern Ukraine would not look good on Russian state TV so Putin doesn’t even get near that.
