‘Putin is not winning this engagement’: Retired general on Bakhmut battle

The leader of the Russian mercenary company Wagner claimed that his men had captured Bakhmut from Ukraine after “224 days of fighting.” Ukraine has denied the claim – and insisted that not only has Bakhmut not fallen but that it’s being flanked by Kyiv’s forces. Retired Major General James “Spider” Marks analyzes the state of the battle in eastern Ukraine. #CNN #News

  1. I’m thinking that Belogrod, Russia is sort of like the Yalu River was considered during the Korean War.
The Ukrainians are “forbidden” (wink, wink) to cross that line. 😛

    1. @Christopher Chen It definitely had mixed results! We did learn that the Soviets were crossing the line with regularity. подмигиваю, подмигиваю

    1. @Lone Biker of the Apocalypse Nope! Benny Hill is simply far more hilarious. Hill had natural show biz talent as he came from a show biz background!

    1. No, taking 8 months and thousand of troops lives to win one 5 sq km town after losing 40,000 sq km and multiple cites is actually losing. 🤣

    2. @bradley heights How about 20 years in Afghanistan, then withdrawing after the deaths of poor Americans and trillions lost for nothing.

    3. @Anaeus Rex It seems that it is like a theme for them.. like starting wars that they don’t win.

  2. The General is close. The AFU messing with Belgorod accomplishes other things as well though . It will scare the population, which is a good thing, it will also make Russia redirect troops and equipment to the area to prepare for a possible attack. It’s tactical genius. This is how you fight a War, unfortunately for Russia they haven’t a clue. Слава Героям!!! ❤ GOD Bless Everyone

    1. Hello 👋 how are you doing today? I hope 🤞 this year brings happiness, peace and love all over the world 🌎 I’m originally from Canada 🇨🇦 grow up in Fort Worth Texas, currently living in Key West Florida. Where are you from if i may ask?
      😊😊

    2. @xpact correct, because they were defeated and lost man power and military equipment. After defeat comes denial

    1. I’m not sure where you live, but Marks was a US military general. There’s no problem.

  3. I think this has been an international bake sale to fund a mid summer nights eve offensive.

  4. The boss of the Wagner group of mercenaries said Russia has captured Bakhmut to ‘the last centimetre’ and that President Zelensky was either lying or ignorant that it hadn’t been seized.

“There is not a single Ukrainian soldier in Bakhmut as we have stopped taking prisoners,” said Yevgeny Prigozhin, whose fighters have spearheaded Russia’s advance on Bakhmut.

“There are a huge number of corpses of Ukrainian soldiers.”

    1. Meanwhile in the video you can hear multiple artillery shells exploding in the background.
      Lmao.

    2. @Alex Perezt’s the frontline, do you think that during ww2 russians didn’t hear artillery shields exploding while they were winning?

  6. In order to support Ukraine you have to have a heart for freedom, and Justice. Long live Democracy!

  7. Zelensky knows that Prigozhin is slowly being encirclee in Bakhmut. Prigozhin needs proof that Bakhmut has already taken so he can withdraw and Zelensky refusing to admit to anything is making sure that Prigozhin is staying put there.
