Record-breaking amount of tornadoes tear into the U.S. in March | USA TODAY

Tornado season is seeing a shift as severe storms are appearing earlier than before.

Thus far, the strongest tornado from the current outbreak occurred early Wednesday morning in Springdale, Arkansas, and was rated as an EF3 with maximum winds of 145 mph, AccuWeather said. The storm injured several people and damaged homes and a school. Fortunately, the storm stuck prior to the arrival of students.

According to the Storm Prediction Center, at least 214 tornadoes have been reported in March 2022, which is the most for the month of March since records started in 1950. Usually, about 80 twisters are reported in March.
