  1. I mean you can get get away with running a muck in the Capital. You can try to hang your own Vice President, then when is one found guilty? All of this broke out from Trump running that big mouth of his.

  2. JimJones was the leader of the Peoples Temple, a ministry of his own devising that convinced hundreds of Americans to move to his compound, known as Jonestown, in Guyana.

“He was a master of manipulation, but you saw him with this dark hair, the sunglasses, and the way that he spoke — he was a great orator — and it moved you, it inspired you because he was so passionate. And so I was just enthralled,” said former Peoples Temple member Leslie Wagner-Wilson.
As time went on, former members said Jones became more extreme.

In 1974, Jones leased more than 3,800 acres of isolated land in the jungle from the Guyanese government. By 1978, nearly 1,000 followers had moved to the Guyana compound. Having been forced to give up their passports and money upon arrival, some former members said they were cut off from the outside world.

“Everyone was forbidden from reading anything because Jones said they were liars,” said former member Deborah Layton. “He called it FAKE NEWS…. Jones coined fake news. Anything that was written about him he said was fake. It was all to ruin his name and his cause, and what he stood for.”

A cult environment like “Qanon” and Trumpism discourages critical thinking, making it hard to voice doubts, when everyone around you is displaying dogmatic faith and obedience to their leader. A process of indoctrination is in use that can be seen as coercive persuasion, or thought reform, commonly called “brainwashing.” The resulting internal conflict, known as cognitive dissonance, keeps them trapped, as each compromise makes it more painful to admit that you’ve been deceived.

    1. Rereading Deborah Layton’s book _Seductive Poison_ recently, I noticed the parallel to the fake news claim (among many other tactics of control), though I don’t recall seeing the term. Where are you quoting her from?

    2. thanks for writing that- it would not surprise me at all if Trump took lessons from something that he read about Jim Jones. Trump loves, not just having control , but he gets off on the manipulation that gets him there. he’s a sick freak. Hitler was cut from the same cloth.

    3. Simply put, “if you have to eat crow it’s better to do it while it is warm. The colder it gets, the harder it is to swallow”

  3. brilliantly said, ty both. but it was not a surprise to most of us, t**** has been building up to this since at least his ‘stand back and stand by’ moment.

  4. Nice to see the traitors arrested and charged. Two idiots in my state are facing decades in prison and hundreds of thousands in fines.

  5. After the attack DJT issued a Tweet: “These are the things and events that happen when a sacred landslide election victory is so unceremoniously & viciously stripped away from great patriots who have been badly & unfairly treated for so long.” This proves he intended the insurrection and is unrepentant for the deaths, injuries and damage he caused. He should be tried together with the other insurrectionists in federal court, charged with seditious conspiracy, insurrection, conspiracy against rights, violation of civil liberties under color of law and felony murder pursuant to: https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/2385 https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/2384 https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/2383 https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/241 https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/242 https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/610 https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/595 https://uscode.house.gov/view.xhtml?req=(title:52%20section:10307%20edition:prelim) https://uscode.house.gov/view.xhtml?req=(title:52%20section:20511%20edition:prelim) https://www.justia.com/criminal/offenses/homicide/felony-murder/ . Once convicted for insurrection, the 14th Amendment automatically applies: https://constitution.congress.gov/browse/amendment-14/section-3/

  6. “There is no gray area, it is an open & shut case!”. I couldn’t agree more–most especially when Rep. McGovern said of tRUMP, “what a disgusting individual!”.

  7. I love this dude. I dont even know who he is except for “the leader of the zoom rules committee meetings ive been binge watching lately.” But seriously. He is awesome & one righteous dude.

  8. Our House Managers have done a wonderful job organizing, preparing, and presenting the facts. They represent us well. Great interview with Rep McGovern; it’s terrible what they went through on the 6th.
    Thank You

  9. It would be awesome if the senate voted unanimously to convict. There is strength in numbers and they can’t replace the entire senate.

    1. That’s even more reason to be concerned. This faction is pure evil and intent on destroying democracy. Arizona seems to be first on their agenda. And they stated at the capital that they were going to try and take each state’s capitals one by one. T**** has opened Pandora’s box and we have to stay vigilant.

    2. We can hope they actually watched and listened to the House Managers as the case against T rump was proven and have begun to think they might have been mistaken. Hope. Hope springs eternal.

  10. One can argue about the intent of the incitement. One cannot argue about the depraved indifference and dereliction of duty in the hours that the US Capitol and its human occupants were under attack, while the American president did nothing.

  11. You know what made me laugh, while I was watching the attack upon the Capitol..? Trump and his supporters had been raving for several years about why we need to build a big wall across our southern border, right..? And then we all watched Trump’s terrorists scale a 30-foot stone wall at the Capitol with ease. So much for the value of big walls, eh..?

  12. My question is… did trump actually think that puling this stunt would just hand the election to him and he would remain president?
