Countries like the UK, France and many others are also marching in his name for racial equality. FWIW, I am white but I’m sick and tired of the racist jerks. We saw him ignor the pleas of bystanders.
Then we watched him calmly put his hands in his pocket while he waited for George Floyd to die.
Pressure applied for minutes after George stopped moving.
There is no excuse.

I have not heard anyone speaking about bail being set for any of the cops involved in the murder of George Floyd. The crime the world witnessed, was brutal and And barbaric.
Each of the cops actions/inactions, warrant excessive bails, totalling in the millions, for each of them. A one million dollar bail is almost laughable. We must not have a Grand Jury assembled, that usually is a set-up for less charges for the prosecutor. It took an outside person to have the charges upgraded. As we are aware, Grand Juries are “SECRET”! I pray the jury will adhere to facts and not racist feelings and have a “HUNG JURY”.
Looks intentional to me and this is as serious as it gets. I’d like the professionals (Do they exist?) to weigh in, as opposed to a hyperventilating posse chosen from a peanut gallery. These incidents of racial profiling and persecution must stop.

I’ve seen mostly criminal acts being committed
‘…but history shows there will be clear challenges here’… ie it will be hard to gain a conviction in these charges against police. In that case, the law is the problem. If the law isn’t clear that what those cops did to Floyd was murder, then the law is wrong, inadequate, needs to be changed. Thee should be little to no doubt about securing a conviction in this case.
The law should NEVER show more deference for a police officer! if anything, officers should receive harsher punishments for violating the law they swore to uphold!

The average white schmoe unless they are a crook isn’t exposed to dealings with the police. It’s mostly poor whites who understand what policemen are capable of and how they throw their weight around. I think a lot of the time in some neighborhoods the cops just get bored. One time my daughter missed a court date for a traffic offense. Two big burly cops came to our door to arrest her, she was 18 or 19 I think. She was so scared and upset she had an asthma attack and struggled. They wrestled her to the ground and slapped the cuffs on my 110 lb. daughter so tight they left bruises on her wrists. I called their superior later and he said he talked to the officers and they told him they hadn’t done anything wrong.
I think racism is systemic in America. This comes from poor leadership, poor training and poor reporting mechanisms. It is rare that a policeman has malicious intent. Obviously, it happens but this is predominantly a training problem.
AGREED! Make no mistake about this, police fraternities and unions use ‘qualified immunity’ as a shield to justify conduct that the average citizen gets arrested for doing – think assault for starters. I know several fine police officers who’ve told me they’ve tried to hold fellow officers via ‘peer pressure’ to account and the union steps in to interfere in such actions. The union uses qualified immunity to justify interference with the claim of protecting each other – us [the blues] verses them [the citizens]. I maintain there’s no way any form of a citizens review board will make any difference as long as qualified immunity is in play. Stay safe – be well.
@S Anderson well actually there has been an expansive and expensive effort to train the police in many cities. I don’t know what you do for a living but workplaces have cultures anyway, the police have a “brotherhood.” It’s easier for them to slip into an “us and them” mentality. I remember one of the last murders they committed. They got a call about a suspected home break in. They hunted that kid down and in the dark many feet away they claimed the kid had a gun. They all gunned him down. But what was going through their minds as they were hunting him down? I’d bet any amount of money that there was no home broken into.

The cop who placed his knees on the victim and laid all his weight on the victim’s back also preventing him from breathing should also be charged with second degree murder.
