I used to at one time , but not anymore . If they care so much about freedom or other people , explain having Putin for 23 years ! It’s not like you can plead ignorance this day and age with the internet and social media.
Maybe it is “easy to sympathize with Ukrainians” but it is not easy to live in Ukraine where tragedies like this count in hundreds and extreme suffering is a part of everyday life.

My family was separated from each other in the early 1900s leaving Russia. Only part of my family escaped. Some were forced to stay and fight in the military.

I don’t put it beyond any major state to be involved in propaganda. But the facts are clear. One country is bombing the civilian infrastructure, homes and apartment blocks. Only one country has been calling for the “annihilation” of another. Russia is now officially a terrorist state, a perpetrator of not only many war crimes but specifically of genocide.
These facts are available from satellite images and the direct statements of Russian officials. The “interpretation” of politicians and media personalities may reflect these facts or they may twist and avoid them. But the facts have already come out. It is only a matter of time before the world will have to deal with them.

Today the country being helmed by a dictator is well on its way of becoming the largest economy on earth and lifted 600 million of its population out of poverty, all while the democratic nation are still not even capable of providing half of its population with proper toilets!
