Same Safety Measures Apply To Coronavirus Variants: CDC Director | Rachel Maddow | MSNBC

    1. Seems the approach is wrong, no battle has to be fought. If you do not want to wear a mask, wash your hands, social distance, or get a vaccine, no big deal, just do not go to the hospital when you catch it. Let everyone do what they want, the end result is the same. Everyone will catch it, there will be herd immunity, those that followed the rules will have fewer problems and deserve medical care if they need it.

    2. @Special People Please stop spreading false and misleading information. Masks only work if nearly everyone wears them, and those who do not follow the rules get the virus and spread it to those who are following the rules; so no, it is not ok for everyone to do what they want, their actions impact everyone. And no, not everyone will get the virus; rather we will get 75% or more of the population vaccinated in order to create herd immunity which will help get our numbers down. We should be locking down right now in order to get the virus under control, a three week lockdown could reduce our numbers by 95% or more, almost wiping it out prior to the vaccine. That would lower the total death toll by over 100,000 Americans. Unfortunately Trump made it into a political issue and there are entire communities that are going to refuse the vaccine and masks and refuse all the rules; and because of them we have only one way to fight the virus.

    3. @SoulHarvester Gaming However it came to be, the corona virus (China virus) was directed as a weapon, particularly targeting America and the Trump Presidency. The CCP hated Trump,..wanted him gone. The Dems acted as cheerleaders for a ‘pandemic’, seeing it as a means to take out Trump. The Trump-Russia hoax failed. The Trump-Ukraine impeachment hoax failed. The MSM defamation campaign was not working. Trump was still too popular and was going to win the election in a landslide. The Dems — We can push lockdowns to destroy the Trump economy. We can make everyone miserable, wearing masks. We can blame everything on Trump. We can push for nationwide vote by mail (to enable large scale election fraud).
Notice that Biden just recently signed an order to remove the term ‘China virus’ from our American lexicon. You can see who he’s working for.

    4. @Tidbit “Masks only work if nearly everyone wears them, ” False, If I wear a mask into a room of people that are not wearing them, my chance of infection is lower, so is theirs from me. ” and those who do not follow the rules get the virus and spread it to those who are following the rules; so no, it is not ok for everyone to do what they want, their actions impact everyone. ” Agreed, except in reality that is exactly what is happening, rather than waste time fighting about if the rules make sense, I am asking those that do not follow them to just not go to the hospital when they get the virus. The reason I made the argument this way was in the hope that people would at least consider the extension of their argument not to follow the rules upon themselves, even if they did not consider the affect of their decision on others.

“And no, not everyone will get the virus; rather we will get 75% or more of the population vaccinated in order to create herd immunity which will help get our numbers down.” Disagree, when you consider the variants, and the slow rate of global vaccination, the U.S. will more than likely be battling this for years, so the infection will be near 100% before we are done. Also consider the current vaccines are to help you fight the virus, they do not prevent you from getting the virus. Pick a source you trust to verify this last sentence.

“We should be locking down right now in order to get the virus under control, a three week lockdown could reduce our numbers by 95% or more, almost wiping it out prior to the vaccine. That would lower the total death toll by over 100,000 Americans. ” Disagree, there would have to be a complete freeze in place, at home or at work for 3 weeks. This means that healthcare workers would have to stay at the hospital for 3 weeks. It would also mean that people with nasty drug addictions would stay wherever, rather than mingling. Also, anyone with a medical emergency would just have to wait. As there are so many people that either could not or would not follow the lockdown, it would not achieve the goal.

” Unfortunately Trump made it into a political issue and there are entire communities that are going to refuse the vaccine and masks and refuse all the rules; and because of them we have only one way to fight the virus.” Agree regarding the problems facing defeating the virus, but my premise is the same. I am not fighting anyone’s decisions regarding the rules, it leads no where. I am pointing out that if they break any of the rules for any reason, they should at least not clog up the hospitals when they get the virus. Trying to enforce the rules is impossible, so people have to want to change. I am trying to make them have a reason to.

    5. @Special People Your argument that they should not go to the hospital isn’t going to change anyones mind, and obviously they are going to go if they get ill. My problem with your comments is they seem to give permission to people to do what they want, and that endangers peoples lives. As for the mask, if you walk into a room it only protects you 20%. Now if someone else is wearing a mask their mask protects you 80%. So when it comes to mask wearing you barely get any protection from your own mask; it’s all about having others, preferably everybody, wearing them. Anyway, I think the main problem today is people thinking that their decisions only affect themselves, and that is not the case with Covid 19. As for the vaccine we already have 35million vaccinated and we’re up to 1.4million a day from just a million a day a week ago, so I can see us reaching 2-3, maybe even 4 million a day and that means in just 4-5months we could vaccinate everyone. Plus the variants seem to be thwarted with the same vaccine as the regular virus; so I don’t think it will be a problem going forward. As for the lockdown, obviously emergency services and essential services would still be operational, but right now the US is encouraging companies to be open when what they should be doing is telling people to stock up on groceries and then go full lockdown for a minimum of 2 weeks, 3 is better, this would cut the numbers by over 90% and save 100,000 lives. And even if Trump supporters didn’t listen to it, it would still save tens of thousands of lives. Biden is just too afraid to rock the political boat because MAGA hat wearers would freak out and riot in the streets(and yes, even with riots spreading it the numbers would still go way down, and it would totally be worth it, and save a lot of lives).

    1. I remember my history professor teaching the math concept that twice nothing is still nothing. That being said if we keep increasing ten fold every two weeks, we will eventually reach a significant number.

    2. My point exactly. Also yes eventually with ten fold increases we will be at a good number being done. How much you want to bet the varients move faster than that?

  1. Who put soldiers and barbed wire around the Capitol?
    Idi Amin?
    Charles Taylor?
    Robert Mugabe?
…no, it was Joseph Biden! 😁

    1. @Ash Roskell it’s not worth it. These people have the IQ of a brussle sprout, otherwise they would realize just how ridiculous they sound

  2. My city bus driver Dave: “Hey, haven’t seen yah ride the bus lately.”
Me: “I’ve just been staying home & low; Covid safety measures, yah know.”
Dave: “No way. Heck, my son’s HS has been lifting those measures & in a few weeks all the basketball games will be open to the public.”
Me: ” Wow, sounds dangerous, to me.”
Dave: “This China Virus thing has been blown way out of proportion. Anyway ND has had a big drop and we’re so isolated up here. Yah see ND has probably reached its herd immunity thing. The other bigger states probably won’t reach it till lots later. Anyway it’s great to not wearing masks to my son’s games.”
Me: “Hmmmm? How’s your family been?”

This is North Dakota’s current handling of Covid19 virus.

    1. Maybe share the following plan with Dave and others that might need to reconsider their actions.

If you do not want to wear a mask, social distance, wash your hands, or get a vaccine, no problem, just do not go to the hospital when you catch it. Let everyone do what they want, the end result is the same. Everyone will catch it, there will be herd immunity, those that followed the rules will have fewer problems and deserve medical care if they need it.

    2. @Special People The herd immunity concept is nationally incusive. A % of People must die ergo I might be one of the dead if I follow Dave’s non-safety measures…no thanks. Each state does not nor can not be self inclusive such as reaching its own herd immunity goal & THEN think they’re in the clear. At any rate I received my 1st Pfizer dose & if every American did likewise we as a nation could reach herd immunity safely however the mutated covidviruses would have us chasing our tail therefore herd immunity could not be achieved…but I digress. Happy Valentine’s Day…my sincere love to all.🙏😷

    3. @Judica Seems the holes in Dave’s knowledge are considerable, and there are many people that have a similar set of beliefs. Something to ponder regarding variants.
If you think about it on 2 levels it is easier. First we have to deal with the original. At a rate of 1,000,000 infections per day, the U.S. is infected in a year, the more people that have the vaccine at the time of infection, the fewer long term problems and deaths. Second, we have to deal with the variants. These can be split in to 2 groups. Group A are those variants that are not immune to current vaccines, those seem to cause more long term problems than the original, but may not change the death rate. Group B are variants that are immune to the current vacancies, and new vaccines will need to be designed for them. When you combine all the info, the vaccine production rate is the key to saving lives and avoiding long term problems, and that is applicable to both group A and B variants. Regarding non U.S. people, it is in everyone’s interest to vaccinate them as soon as possible to stop variants from happening, and then being spread to the U.S.

  3. Increased sequencing 10 fold!! So we are now at 1% of positive cases being sequenced 🤣🤣🤣 you need a thousand fold or you might as well have a blind fold on

  4. Regarding the new and more dangerous strains, would it make sense to ban travel that is not within the borders? When a person or family travels to England, I am having a problem seeing how that lowers my risk of catching the new strains. When travelers from outside America come to visit, it seems that it would not lower my risk of catching the new strains, either.

  5. Jesus Christ saves from sin.
    Romans 3: 23
    For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
    Hebrews 9: 27
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
    Isaiah 64: 6
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
    Revelation 21: 8
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
    Romans 5: 8
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
    John 3: 16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
    John 14: 6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
    Romans 10: 9-10.
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
    Jesus said John 5: 24
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
    1John 5: 10-13
He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
    Ephesians 2: 8-9
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.
    Romans 8: 1
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
    1 Corinthians 15: 3-4
    For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
    2 Corinthians 5: 21
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
