I am highly suspicious of a man who can not step forward to defend his supposed innocence, or to at least send his closest advisers forth to do it for him.

Robert Taylor he hasn’t been convicted. That’s the Senates job to decide. All the house does is vote if their is enough evidence. The senate holds the trial. The impeachment is really nothing unless they move on to an actual trial. So yeah, he can still be elected again. In my opinion he will likely win too. Not unless the Democrats or Libertarians back a strong candidate.

rule the majority in the Senate, there will be no fair trial.
