Secretary of State Antony Blinken delivers remarks | USA Today

Russian military forces escalated attacks on civilian areas of Ukraine's largest cities Wednesday as the nation's leaders pledged to repel the invaders and the citizenry joined the military effort to defend their battered country.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in a televised address to the nation one week into the hostilities, rallied his people and praised them for their resolve.

“During this time, we have truly become one," Zelenskyy said. "We forgave each other. We started loving each other. We help each other. We are worried for each other."

In the besieged northeastern city of Kharkiv, Mayor Igor Terekhov says the unrelenting assault has caused "massive destruction." A rocket strike hit the regional police headquarters, killing four people and wounding several others, Ukraine Emergency Services said.

  1. Frankly, as we expected from Blinken, more escalation, although there is no time for these statements
It is negative and does not reflect the scene on the ground
And how can the people of Russia stand before their president and put pressure on him, even though Russia did not ask people in European capitals to do the same in order to end the conflict by peaceful means?
Because all these statements are measured to the listener by the percentage of facts in them
And the biggest truth is that we, the people of the world, are on the edge of identity

  3. People are dying and all you do is talk about sanctions it’s a joke you’re not doing anything about it Ukraine is fighting alone

  5. Now that you sanctions Russian . Is that makes you fill confidence in life ? The rich also crying . The collapse of Americans empire has just began .

  6. Another challenge to the USA ability to guarantee world’s free safe maritime trade: russia keep eyeing Odesa, a major port city, and sieges Mariupol, another important port city. The orks also want Kramatorsk. And Berdyansk. Think occupied Crimea. Think 4 (!) merchant ships already attacked, hit by russian navy. Think areas of Azov and Black Seas blocked by russian actions from peaceful trade. On the ability of the USA to guarantee peaceful maritime trade, that is on our NAVY and our satellites, the role of the dollar as the default world currency is based. When pirates challenged Obama on the ocean domination, he did not hesitate to wack them. Will we hesitate now to protect the peaceful ocean trade routes?
