She was willing to take the mantle of “boogeywoman” as long as it meant that she could get the progressive, moderate and conservative wings of the Democratic Party to work together, and she was damn good at it; that’s why people primarily hate her and are in here with snarky comments.
There’s some legit criticisms, such as possible insider trading that a good chunk of our politicians do, but when it came to delivering consequential legislation she was able to deliver. I seriously doubt a lot of the people that hate her know actually understand what the Speaker does, that or they hate her because she’s been able to be one of the most effective legislators in history. She’s better than Newt Gingrich, Paul Ryan, John Boehner, and Kevin McCarthy combined, who just occasionally passed shitty tax cuts and launched smear campaigns instead of passing legislation. Kevin Mccarthy did the most predictable thing; after campaigning for the Republican Party on the basis of fixing inflation, he’s going to back track in that and is going to use his power to launch some baseless investigations instead. That’ll fix inflation, huh?
