    1. it never was, they have to vote on each increase. Local governments are better at this, usually raising it each year where that’s passed.

  1. Unfortunate, people deserve a living wage if they work full time. If that means that some goods and services cost more, then so be it, that’s what it should cost. Free market economics will sort that out, business owners should make money based on their efficiency, innovation, strategy, etc., not on the backs of hard working people just trying to get by in a tough world.

  2. Well from here in North East Tn. There are way too many people trying to raise a family with 7.25 an hour and this is devastating to them. The plants here are nearly impossible to get a job in and they are coveted jobs offered as top pay of 12.00 hourly most making 9.00 and working their butts off and they live way below the poverty levels and it is generational and it’s not fair to them and it effects us all. So it’s a bad call and it is easy to live on 170k a year and they say they scrape by!!!

  3. So Congress can declare war, but not increase the minimum wage? Sounds like total BS to me. Maybe if we were BILLIONAIRES Congress would do what they should have done forty years ago. Congress has raised it before-don’t believe any of these people care or even understand America.

  4. Unbelievable! Get rid of the Filibuster. People can’t live on minimum wage, maybe it could be a regional amount for cost of living in the area you live…
