What a blessing to be able to trace that far back on her mother’s side. Many slaves took on their masters’ names and it was hard to trace. Great story.
I was lucky enough to have spent time with my great great grandmother. She passed away when I was about 8 years old at the age of 95, and my great grandparents raised me and my great grandmother passed away at the age of 95 and my grandmother is 85 and I’m 48
I grew up similar. It was not easy but now i look back and appreciate so much. Esp what immigrants go through, so many Americans don’t know.
