  1. Elucidation: what I meant when I put this on Twitter, “call me the light at the end of the tunnel” is the muzzle flash from a pistol. Oops… #WarfareDamocles #LegacyMan #ActualFactual #DonP #FactsBlack #FactsMill #AlwaysBlackKnight

  2. _Smart (noun): A word that will never be used to describe t’rump._
Like seriously, I’ve never heard an actual smart person have to say that he’s smart with a big “a-brain” as often as the Stable Genius feels the need to do. 😄

    1. Why waste your time with the democrat/republican thing, they are all puppets guys. This whole thing is WAY bigger than Trump or Biden or whoever else is “trying out” for this effed up play. C mon. Look at this…

  3. There are going to be a lot of pandemic-themed movies in a year or two. They’ve got to take advantage of those empty streets.

    1. I keep thinking the same. But in some places, it’s against the law facing fines and imprisonment for such acts. But yeah! No need for computer generation of empty streets. They’re already there!

  4. THE SENATE NEEDED TO KNOW HOW TO DO THE PAYMENT SYSTEM THAT WILL GET US OUT OF THE MESS WE’RE IN!! SO THEY WENT TO SOMEONE SMART ENOUGH TO KNOW THE ANSWER ELIZABETH WARREN!!!!! W HAT WOULD ELIZABETH DO!!!!!

    1. @T Electronix Lack of platelets too. damage to the heart. well multiorgan failure. do you need to know more?

    2. @Bad Fairy ‘do you need to know more?’

If you’re going to take that attitude then consider your lack of any answers to “where from?”.

  5. Kindly note that the initial graph is not to scale, therefore, one can’t make coherent conclusions about the shape of the curve when the numbered scale along the vertical access is not to scale. Also, making claims based on the number of confirmed cases is guesswork. IMHO, it makes more sense to use daily death figures to get a sense of when a locale is reaching the apex of its impact by COVID-19.

    1. This tracks people’s temperatures and is meant for noting flu outbreaks. The company just added the extra step to remove data that is normally associated with flu to show anomalies which MIGHT indicate COVID-19 outbreaks.

  6. The data is a sample of owners of a specific thermometer recording only those who took their temperature with that it during bars/restaurants closures. What correlation is there between that group/bars,etc. other variables, if any? That’s not science, it’s wishful thinking.

  7. Great reporting Chris. Are they available for home use? I would like to get one myself. Track my own symptoms, since doctor’s offices want to diagnose a person over the phone.

  8. Greetings from Germany. We here in Germany have one the lowest death rate and the slowest rate of newly infected worldwide, 41.000 infections by only 234 deaths, average age is 53 year old of the people dying of the disease here ! Why you might ask, because we have Medicare for All, everybody not just German citizens but also permanent and non permanent residents are covered. That means nobody is scared or afraid to see a doctor, getting tested or being monitored.

Some dumb and uneducated people say, but look at Italy, they have Med4ALL and they have still been hit the hardest. Do not confuse a WRONG and late strategic response, with the perfect system in place to not just deal with the wrong first response of corrupt Italian politicians but also the virus itself. Without Med4ALL Italy would have totally collapsed and the number of deaths would be far greater!

Press your politicians hard for the right to be looked after by a healthcare system that serves the people and not investors and big corporations. I am a doctor and I didnt become one to get rich but because i want to help people. Financially I am doing pretty well too, not as good as an American doctor maybe but therefor I am far more competent than any of my American colleagues I have ever met! Stay safe

Thats not likely the reason for the discrepancy in Germany. Italy has the same quality healthcare system, but an older population and this disease is raging among the older people. In Germany, most infections appear to be younger people who have a lower mortality rate. Another reason is that there is a lot more testing going on in Germany (like in Japan and South Korea, with equally low mortality rate) – if you put a high test number against a known death number, its inevitably going to lower the percentage of mortality.

The advantage of a european style healthcare system are clear and they will become clearer as people in the US go broke over treatment of this disease or even die of complications because they cant afford treatment. But right now the incompetence of the trump regime is the culprit for the situation spiraling out of control, not the insufficient insurance system.

    2. @Ganiscol I didnt say that. A good healthcare system is the basic you need and then go from there. Italys problem is their corrupt right wing government calling it fake news and not allocating the resources to their medical workers. Same thing in the USA, right wing government lying through its teeth calling it a hoax and then having a delayed response to something very REAL you can not simply insult away! Our estimates here in Germany suggest that you guys in the USA are heading where Italy and Spain are right now because of your delayed response which will haunt you exponentially and your death toll will sadly increase substantially ! The American healthcare system is set up for profit which is INSANE and it is not made to produce good outcome, its worse than Chinas

    1. Yeah using a logarithmic scale is so stupid! Of course the curve looks like it’s flatening, each new bar the distance before next bar is increased! A linear scale is what should be used here… The amount of “new cases” has indeed started to reduce since march 21st but the amount of case is still raising…

  9. 0:26 “Light at the end of the tunnel” is not necessarily the best possible figure of speech because it is said to occur when you die 🙂

  10. So, the “smart” part is that it sends your temperature readings to the company that made this thermometer? Anything else, like your name, postal address or IP address?
