Steve Kerr didn't want to talk about basketball. Despite the Golden State Warriors being one win away from their first NBA Finals appearance since 2019, Kerr turned his attention to a deadly mass shooting at a Texas elementary school that left at least 21 people, including 19 children, dead less than 400 miles away from American Airlines Center in Dallas.

"Any basketball questions don't matter," Kerr said in a passionate speech ahead of Game 4 against the Dallas Mavericks. "Since we've left shootaround, 14 children were killed… and a teacher. In the last 10 days, we've had elderly Black people killed in a supermarket in Buffalo, we've had Asian churchgoers killed in Southern California. Now we have children murdered at school."

"When are we going to do something?" Kerr questioned as he slammed his hands on the table in frustration, while holding back tears. "I'm so tired of getting up here and offering condolences to the devastated families that are out there. I'm so tired. Excuse me. I'm sorry. I'm tired of moments of silence. Enough."

  1. The first thing the shooter did on his 18th birthday was to buy those 2 assault riffles. These deaths are on Greg Abbot’s head.

    1. Lisa you can do the same amount of damage driving a assault SUV through a Christmas parade crowd. “Blm protester”.

    1. He protested having police at Oakland High School in 2020. He cares for power not your kids.

  2. There are background checks already. This guy is a look at me I’m special kinda guy. Give me a break!

    1. At least someone knows he has not a clue what he’s talking about. All these shooter go to where they know they will have the least chance of being confronted.

    2. @D Shepherd By “special “he means misinformed. The statistics on guns being used in defense totally ratios Guns used for murder. But Kerr doesn’t know anything about defense. Look at the Warriors.

    3. @The Godly Gamers My guess is those gunman did not acquire their guns legally. That’s horrible nonetheless.

    4. @Tay Trax absolutely, I’m just saying he isn’t just talking for publicity but it’s something that hits hard for him

    1. He’s emotional that’s all he don’t have a clue what he’s talking about. Neither do you

  3. Everytime something bad happens all the celebrities try to fight for who can get the most attention after haha 😄 cmom guys is it racist no is it something we can profit from no ok well lets just get as much attention as possible.

    1. @The Godly Gamers o no was he o my god so was mine does that make me the ambassador of people who got shot ….dude please stop ✋ haha

    2. It’s really sad that there are people like you who come to these ridiculous conclusions. You really think everyone is all out for attention? You really think there are no real feelings 100% of the time? You really don’t see a problem with our society and how America has more mass shootings than any other first-world country? It’s because our country is laxer on gun laws than most other first-world nations. More guns/weapons is not gonna solve this problem. We don’t want our country to turn into a world where everyone in the room has a gun, where armed men are stationed at every public facility. It starts to look like a war-zone and is ridiculous.

    3. @Whereabouts Unknown the reason other coudont have shootings like this is because they can barley afford food also genious other countries are in war rn also we dont need armed guards in school because this is America we have police stations and a police force . please move to the country you think is safe and let us know how that goes …see you when you come back .

  4. The problem is that the people doing this crime are not people with bad background so stop the politics

  5. Maybe you should just talk about basketball and shut your mouth.. How dare this multimillionaire use his platform to try to push some political agenda, what is a background check gonna do Steve Kaerr that kid was 18yrs old.. Steve Kerr what about Chicago NYC Sacramento you got nothing to say about that, just be quiet..

  6. June, 2020: Warriors head coach Steve Kerr joined hundreds of parents, students and teachers in Oakland for a rally today calling for police to be taken off of Oakland school campuses.

    1. @Winston Until there isn’t any. How many more would have been killed if cops didn’t kill him?

  7. Gee look, a white liberal basketball coach telling everyone what to think and how to feel! How….original! Not self-serving at all.

  8. Don’t places like Chicago and New York have some of strictest gun laws? What’s their gun violence like? 🤔

    1. What do you suggest be done to stop kids from being killed ? And to stop other young people that are disturbed from murdering innocent people .

    2. @BIG Stan Evil people wishing to commit harm innocent will always be around. I was simply pointing out gun restrictions don’t work. You disagree?

  9. Kerr, you give up your officers and security first then come back with your whinnying speech. How dare you protect yourself and team and expect children, teachers and ALL Americans to not have the ability to protect themselves. Come on now, give up your armed protection.

  10. wow all these hate comments for a man who’s just devastated by the tragic, wow
