  1. What possessed the MSNBC producer to think that interviewing someone from the charter school system would cast light on this issue?

    1. This is a network that attempted to imply that 4 white blue dog Democratic Congress Women , who were , hard no’s on Impeaching a criiminal , were responsible for the Inquiry and not the ‘Squad’ Maxine Waters and Al Green.. And then they tried comparing Mayor Pete to Obama .. in all White Iowa.. The Producers know .. that AmeriKKKa is an Idiocracy . Test scores don’t lie..

    2. It’s no doubt part of the “showing both sides” thing. You know, like how they invite Republicans to talk about this, or that, when all they ever do is not answer questions, and spin crazy conspiracy stories.

    1. @Brian Testa There are kids in Developing nations who do better in Math & Reading than AmeriKKKan kids who way more resources and worse leaders.. if that is even possible.. the fault is ‘ yours’ The AmeriKKKan people .. for not demanding better from yourselves.. And your kids..

Friend. Google Me, I am a teacher and have done my part to improve the education system, however everything is limited by funding and the standards proposed at the very top.

Teachers control their classroom, not the system.

    3. Jesse Baker – No my own school district where the county tax payers just just voted down another property tax increase referendum- because the district is run by a corrupt liberal school board. Their getting fking voted out next year.

    4. Phillip Asher – Armed students in red states?? We just vote out corrupt liberal superintendents- and vote down Property tax referendums when the board mentions Equality studies… Corrupted school boards w an agenda.

  2. Charter schools, private prisons, private health insurance. When will we stop letting people make millions off people who have not choice in the matter? Stop giving people like this airtime! It is shameful.

    1. @valmach2 the US probably does better than your country in terms of living standards. Students spend too much time learning about social justice

    2. Charter schools don’t deserve to be lumped in with private prisons and all of that. Charter schools are public schools. They get paid per student by the government just like any larger school district. They operate based on a lottery system. They cannot pick and choose students. They are just public schools.

  3. This woman is a lousy liar, as well as evil. Charter schools were started for the right reasons, but are now just one more way for private entities to get government money.

    1. Charter schools get paid per student just like any other public school. It’s not like they are money making enterprises. They are public schools.

  4. Betsy Devos billionairess was put in charge of Education under tRump. She has never taught a day in school & is unqualified for this position. Her agenda is to destroy Public Education & to privatize it where only the well heeled will be able to send they’re brood to a Private School funded by you the tax payer.

    1. not only has she never taught school. NO ONE IN HER FAMILY HAS EVER ATTENDED A PUBLIC SCHOOL GOING BACK MULTIPLE GENERATIONS

    2. Slim Drizzle : I understand she is related to evil Erik Prince another billionaire of questionable repute & value. You seem to know quite a bit about her. Got anymore dirt on her?

  5. Knowledge and technology go hand in hand. This is the information age so leveraging education is going to be even more important than it’s ever been. We need to update how we teach because everyone learns differently but we still use the same model we used in the 18th and 19th centuries. Grades should reflect more than a good memory. Creativity, critical thinking, abstract thought, self expression and ENTREPRENEURSHIP are critical components of success in the near future.

    1. It’s not about the money, it’s also about the curriculum and method of education, there are a lot of factors that need to be revised. You can increase teacher salaries, but it won’t be enough to fix this problem. Maybe this is why more people are choosing to home school their children.

    2. @Angel Light Agreed. Teachers certainly deserve to get paid more but the curriculum should reflect the times that we’re living in.

    1. It’s because we pay our teachers badly, tell our boys they can play sports for a living and don’t need to study, tell our girls not to earn more money than their future husbands, and call the teachers “losers”.

    2. @Kevin Jones When i homeschooled my kids in Texas there was an oversight system. The guidance specialist knew of NO OTHER PARENT who was homeschooling to give the kids a better education. Every other family she was serving had pulled their kids from school to avoid science classes. Your answer was better than any I ever came up with.

    3. @thiskidkatits We need a different approach to education, and a massive change in child labor laws. For children beyond second grade we should only have school once a week. We should teach children basic reading and math, and let the learn by working. There are a lot of jobs that children could do, and we could use some of the funding from education to pay them. We could hire kids to work in environmental conservation projects, they could work at nursing homes as someone whose there to keep the elderly company and ease their loneliness. They could feed dogs and cats in animal shelters and clean cages. They could stock shelves at the food shelf, and even work in soup kitchens. There is a never ending list of work that needs to be done but that has no monitory value, and children could be filling those rolls. They could be learning from the work they’re doing, and going to school once or twice a week to reflect on what they’ve been doing, and to get a few hours of relevant classroom time to learn a few new things. After they graduate they will be well suited to either find a job in a field they are prepared for, or have the skills to become entrepreneurs, innovators, and inventors.

Forcing children into a building and forcing them to learn things they care nothing about is just short of torture, and it’s traumatizing. It needs to change today.

  6. No problem, all young students have to do now, is to hire a lawyer and hide their school grades..then claim they are stable geniuses

    1. @Marco Polo without stupid people the political class cant retain power , if we get any dumber , a functioning democracy will be impossible

    2. When you make fun of somebody without ever saying his name and everyone on the planet gets the joke … good post.

  7. Why didn’t you interview someone from a PUBLIC school system? This news report is NOT credible. Charter schools in NYC admit ONLY top tier students who will do well in most well taught classes.

    1. Charter schools operate on lottery systems. Any kid in a charter system will have a parent who cares enough about their education to put in a little research and apply, but a lot of the parents who end up applying are also motivated by the fact that their kids aren’t doing well wherever they are. I’m not at all sure that it’s clear that charter schools have a higher proportion of top tier students. Maybe you’re thinking of academies or magnets that exist within schools that only let high performing students in, but charter and traditional district schools both have those.

  8. I did not like the “catch phrase” guest. I remember hearing a teacher tell my mother when I was a child, “There is a set % of children who will learn to read, no matter what system you use.” I have learned since that there is no system that works for all children. The trick is in finding the correct system for each child.

  9. Here’s an easy solution. Take the german, Japanese, French, Dutch, and Norway model. Such as treat treating teachers with the same respect as doctors, since they are actually educating the leaders and workers of the country. Oh and quit taking money from public school funding. That would be a huge help.

  10. Controversial opinion: We are just seeing the first part of “Idiocracy”. The kids are just getting dumber.

    1. Previous month I was able to withdraw my first five figure income ever!!! I’ve been working for this company on the web for two years now and I never been happier… They are paying me $95 per hour, and the most important thing about it is the fact that I am not that tech-savvy, they just asked for basic idea of internet and simple typing skill…The best thing about this work is that now I have more free time with my family. I am able to dedicate quality time with my family and friends and take care of my children and also going on holiday together with them very consistently. Don’t ignore this opportunity and make sure to react rapidly. Check it out, what it is about… *worth48.com*

  11. AmeriKKKa needs to Move to a 4 Day Work Week For Everyone . Parents can spend more time with Family .. It Works ..

    1. Totally agree. Or else make the cost of living more reasonable so mum’s don’t have to return to work so early. Reading begins at home.

    1. A lot of children who learn through phonics are troubled by dyslexia. I’m forever thankful I figured out how to read, when I was two, by looking at the whole word. That is how I taught my children, and we all read much faster than most people do. A gestalt method is better than phonics.

  12. This is what happens when republicans run the country, no money for school, but more money for missiles, military and war.

    1. I live in a city where there has been a flood of non-english speaking families. The Democratic leaders in our city have lowered the standard to accommodate these students. Because of this, all of the students suffer

    2. afrasiabi96 – Oh, there is money for the schools if you are a charter school and they would be in the affluent section of each state. Thanks to Trump its that way now!!!

    3. Previous month I managed to receive my first five figure wage ever!!! I’ve been working for this company over the internet for two years now and I never been happier… They are paying me $95 per hour, and the most important thing about it is the fact I am not really that tech-savvy, they only asked for standard insight into internet and basic typing skill…The best thing about it is that now I have more time for my kids. I am in a position to commit quality time with my relatives and buddies and look after my babies and also going on family holiday along with them very often. Don’t avoid this opportunity and make sure to react rapidly. Let me show you what I do… *revenue39.com*

  13. Your education system in the US is the same as your health care system in that it grossly favors the wealthy at the expense of the lower two thirds of the population and the waste is outrageous. Plus, if you take Betsy DeVos and Alex Azar as examples of leadership in government, you have 75% of the reason for failure.

  14. 3:50 I call Bull-Sh[t on this lady. We spend more money on education than any other country?
    Is she on drugs?
