    1. Indi Pillai You’re becoming very emotional to the point where you can’t even spell nor do you make any sense. You have to remember this is all politics, there is no emotion in politics.

    2. Brady Chuck We should be able to engage in a scholarly and logical political discussion without having to resort to name calling. You have to remember this is politics is not worth being emotional.

    3. @Brady Chuck Can you actually write with some grammar in mind. Seriously, you sound like a knuckle dragging simp and your text looks like an individual with an inability to comprehend the English language. This is why Hamilton didn’t want the uneducated to vote. But I can see we are wasting our time and giving you comments on your page. You probably aren’t even an US citizen just another Putin bot.

    4. @Brady Chuck Just winning a popular vote like in the vast majority of the worlds democracies would be the most fair and simple way to do things. The electoral college was created due to the power struggle between states from states being much more independent 200 years ago than they are today. Things have changed quite a bit, back then it was one of the only ways they could keep the states together, states succeeding from the union and becoming independent countries is no longer a fear today like it was 200 years when the country was young.

  1. How can Americans talk about corruption in elections when the vote of the American people doesn’t matter? What a absolutely sick, deceptive and CORRUPT voting system…you lie cheat and steal votes as well as suppress them.

    1. @VP A-Team I know that. The point I’m making is that you cant call green card holders “illigal”.

    2. @Tyeler Nowell Gotcha. I actually had a feeling you knew concerning voting but to be accurate, they are legal residents, not citizens (a couple of my friends are GC holders).
I had just made a comment to “Username3544” as well who thought because green card holders get an SS number, they can illegally vote (probably the same comment you were commenting on) but ‘clarified’ to him they would not make it onto the eligible voters list.
I was just sending you (debated whether I would) the link to use in case “User..” replied back to you about it (plus a way for you to see on the link that GC holders aren’t citizens for yourself without saying it here).

    1. @Your Majestyy Far from it. Only a delusional person would think that would shut down anything, especially after a fact checking rebuttal was already presented. And even your Thomas Homan quote showed Obama didn’t put kids in jail. You should read it again.

Also: “kids are separated from their parents” is not the same as putting kids in cages. The fact that you don’t understand that, shows much of your ignorance and your lack of morals.

And finally: 3 million more people voted for Hillary Cliton, so you were never part of a “silent majority”. And the majority of the American people didn’t vote for either Trump or Hillary.

      Have a nice day.

    2. Johnson John Williams no he does not. Trump hates humanity. Trump is just a grotesque, disgusting, evil thing because he is not human.

    3. Johnson John Williams honey you need to put the Christianity thing out your mind and do what’s right and not for religious beliefs this about saving our country not doing voting for someone just because they do call have the same religion as you because don’t you realize he said he has done more for Christians then Jesus 🤨 sooooo you playing yourself

    4. @Johnson John Williams no, he dosen’t. He supports tv evangelicals who make more money than the common “christian”. And they support him because they know that their congregation will follow what they say.
On top of that, just look at his actions and tell me, would jesus be proud of the actions of trump? Highly unlikely.
      Sincerely, an Aithiest.

    5. @Johnson John Williams Sure, the apostate kind with the health and wealth gal Paula White… she’s rich from her line of crap. True christian’s would NOT vote for his ignorant racist.

    1. @Fabi Grossi We aren’t the only country that isn’t fully democratic. But, in the countries that are, most have a parliamentary form of government. Rather than a president, they have a PM, chosen from the party with the most seats in their governing body.

    2. @Alex Hamilton So you think democracy is mob rule? Are you an 18th century monarchist?

    3. @Melody Nolan 1824: John Quincy Adams, 1876: Rutherford B. Hayes, 1888: Benjamin Harrison, 2000: George W. Bush, 2016: Donald Trump That makes five times the winner of the Electoral College lost the popular vote.

ELECTORAL COLLEGE: Remember how the DNC screwed us all in 2016 by banning candidate Prof Lessig from the debates? 2. @ETA UNKNOWN 🔻👈🇷🇺👴🍼 confederates are NOT Americans. This one👆 has ODS. Gets his empty 💀 rimmed every night🌙

    1. @Alex Hamilton Hillary won the popular vote. Just like Gore won the popular vote in 2000. The last time that happened was in 1888, and now they’ve fixed it so it won’t happen again. : )

    2. @Dmitri Fukov yes, Troll. Except the one who’ve been purged from voter roles. And the ones who were locked out of their voting stations. And the one’s harassed by voting officials like I was a few years back.

And, once you’ve been harassed when trying to cast your vote, if you ever had any doubts about that happening, they are put to rest.

The film of voters in Kentucky pounding on the locked doors of the only place left to vote in their city will always be the symbol of The American voter’s demand and desire to vote.

  2. Then what purpose do they serve? They’re just an unnecessary layer of complexity in a system.

    1. @James Montgomery Did they not teach you what a rhetorical question is where you went to school?

    2. @Tyeler Nowell I had civics in high school over 30 years ago, which is why I appreciate what Article V means.

    1. @C’est Moi It isn’t up to Trump and the DOJ. It’s up to the individual states. To remove the electoral college would require an amendment to the Constitution, ratified by 2/3 of the states. I think it is very possible that we will see it happen by the end of this decade.

    2. It would take a Constitutional amendment to eliminate the Electoral College. Even if that amendment passed Congress, do you honestly think it could get ratified. The states that have an out-sized say in who becomes president, won’t give up their unfair advantage, and ratify it.

    3. @Deborah Freedman Yes, I think it could get ratified. There have been many amendments to the Constitution over the years and every single time, someone like you said “It will never get ratified.”

    4. @Deborah Freedman We can bypass the electoral college. We are more than half way to enacting the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. Look for that to take effect in the next decade

    5. @Tessmage Tessera

It will just be very difficult as long as the country’s divided and the majority of the states benefitting from the electoral college would need to ratify the amendment.

  3. if the electors have to follow the will of the people why not just make the election based on popular vote and cut out the needless electorates?

    1. @Robert H We’re electing a REPRESENTATIVE, the president, anyway. There’s no reason not to do a direct vote for that representative.

    2. @Patrick Wells Valenti Before President Trump got elected, I would have said it would cause a popularity contest, instead of a careful political process, I had no confidence in the popular vote, and way too much confidence in the Electoral College, then the results came out backwards, and blew my mind, the People have come a long way, I have more faith in Us now, but not enough to trust Us every time.

    3. @Robert H said, “rake salamander because we are not a democracy…we are a republic…MOB rules do not apply.”

*1. What does being a republic have to do with having the electoral college?*

*2. Are you implying “direct democracy” is the only form of democracy?*

  4. The EC is an antiquated system that really didn’t make any sense since it was never intended to balance rural vs city populations, but northern and southern states due to the fact slavery was allowed in the south. We got rid of slavery 150 years ago yet we still have the EC? 🤔

    1. There is NO relationship between the EC and slavery. Read the Federalist papers for context. Don’t just make you crap.

  5. We can’t rely on our US government anymore, we need to take back the power through a workers revolution!

    1. Funny that you mention it. Russian revolution happened thanks to peaceful protesters shot by soldiers on order of Czar. You are not far from this scenario.

  6. The electoral college has been proven to be detrimental to democracy twice in thid century when it lifted two guys into the WH in conflict with the actual vote count.

    3. @Indi Pillai Says a person in the party that believes in 76 genders, racist trees, and worries about the minimum wage because they are broke…….look in the mirror before you insult anyone’s intelligence kid.

    1. It would require a constitutional amendment. Fun fact: The Equal Rights Amendment was never ratified.

  7. The Electors have repeatedly BETRAYED America. The Party of Liars and Cheats (led by the ghoul McConnell)
    cannot win except by cheating.

    1. Actually, Hillary won the popular vote and Trump won the electoral college… so I sure hope he doesn’t win it again!

    2. @Keith Riley popular vote means as much as being popular in high school after you graduated

  8. The electoral college was inacted to make slave states happy. It is outdated. One vote should equal one vote.

    1. @Nicki Snyder Again, what I’m trying to tell you is that a “Trump cultist” is unlikely to be elected as an Elector in a state won by Biden.

    2. @Thomas Jackson unlikely is not impossible. I live in AZ…were about 50/50 here. It shouldn’t even be a possibility. Anyone can be bought as were finding out

    3. @Nicki Snyder Look, Democratic Electors aren’t going to vote for Trump. The Electors are chosen by the political parties and put on the ballot. Then the voters vote for the candidate AND the electors.

Here is a more likely possibility. Trump wins a state, and his Electors are elected, but one or more of the Republican Electors is a “never-trumper” and decides to vote for Biden. That scenario is MUCH more likely.

The Supreme Court just ruled that a state could punish an Elector for doing that IF the state has a law that allows the state to punish the Elector.

Electors could be punished for that, but it wouldn’t change their vote. When they vote, they vote and it is certified. An Elector could decide “I’m going to pay the fine and vote the way I think I should vote.”

Watch what happens next. I guarantee you that it is states who have Republicans in charge who will want to pass legislation to punish faithless electors, now that they know they can do that. And how likely is it, do you think, that they will take that heat in an election year? They will jeopardize their own seat to try to enforce a Trump cult? I doubt it.

    4. @Thomas Jackson Do we really have to wait for him to break every norm? Then we all stand around looking shocked? As he drags his right to break laws through the courts once again as he has his opponents his whole life? He’s a mobster…Im from NY….its not hard to imagine one of his boys, or Putins threatening these Electors to do their bidding. Why not just get out ahead of it & make it illegal? Geeze….in medicine we call it prevention….in my opinion, this legal system needs prevention built into it. Is there anyone who thinks a Democrat can’t be bought as fast as a Republican?

    5. @Nicki Snyder I can assure you that selection of electors in each state is taken very seriously by both political parties.
They choose electors based upon their affiliation with the party.
It is highly unlikely that anyone slated by either party is going to take a bribe to vote for the other party.
The only reason it is even remotely possible that a Republican Elector would vote for Biden this year is because so many people in the establishment of the Republican Party are opposed to Trump. I don’t think any of them will be bribed to vote against Trump. That will not be necessary and it is still a crime to bribe them.
Even so, I would not be surprised if some Republican Electors vote for Biden.

  9. America: The only place in the world where coming in second in a vote, means you still win…

    1. The electoral college is the only one that matters.if you realized that its a series of 50 separate elections which civics class would have taught you but you obviously haven’t.
