This is like saying the player missed the winning shot but the team isn’t responsible for the losing of the game. Even if it was just one player that dropped the ball and slipped up the entire team (agency) is a loser. 🤨
Response is not necessary without a shooter. Shooter cannot kill without the GUN. The people to blame are NOT the responders. The people to blame are those who put THAT gun in THOSE hands.
@lisa’smom44 Even though the authorities did have guns and tactical gear, it still didn’t help them feel safe. It’s because there was disastrous communication and most importantly, they were out fire powered.
DPS had a Trooper on scene within minutes. The Trooper now famously did nothing, then quit while being investigated, then got hired and fired by the school district. 376 local, state and federal officers ignored 1/4 century of active shooter protocol and training. And DPS, with video evidence in hand, still got on national TV and lied repeatedly about what happened and who to blame.

There have been several lies told by the DPS. The teacher who propped the door open allowed the shooter easy access to the school. The video came out, and that was a total and complete lie. The teacher got the door closed, but it didn’t lock correctly. How can anyone trust anything the DPS says?
Their instinct was to blame anyone but themselves first, the true sign of someone who has done something wrong and they know it
21 people died due to incompetence. That is a failure. The dirtbags in charge always seem to forget results matter when it’s their turn to be measured.

St. Louis police just proved a couple of days ago that DPS did fail, spectacularly. Texas law enforcement should go to St. Louis for real training, what to do, and how to do it.

After Columbine (1999), EVERY law enforcement agency from local to federal throughout the country had and has an obligation to develop their procedures and protocols for how they would respond to this exact scenario. They have had 22 years to train for it. 22 years to reevaluate what works and what doesn’t. 22 years of untold numbers of other school shootings to learn from. What the agencies involved at Uvalde do not have is any excuse for their abject failure to respond effectively.
California began active school shooter response training following the 1989 Stockton elementary school shooting. Rest of the nation at the time: It is just a California thing, left coast, yada yada.

I cannot imagine being one of the unfortunate parents knowing that their child died in fear an pain and there was nothing done about it and little they as parents could do about it. I admire the brave parents who were able to defy the law and enter and save their kids. Anything more I could write can’t really help

There were so many things that went wrong. One of the police officers lost his wife she was a teacher in the school. there was an army of officers hiding back the officer wanted to go in his wife/ teacher was just down the hall his superior stopped him waiting for a ridiculous amount of time while the slaughter ensued. shes dead along with other children and others maimed.
