The Fight Against Voter Suppression in Georgia | MSNBC

Georgia’s Senate runoff elections have shattered turnout records, but activists still fear that voter suppression is turning people away from the polls. NBC’s Joshua Johnson discussed the impacts of voter suppression with state representative Bee Nguyen (D-GA), and filmmakers Lisa Garbus and Lisa Cortés, co-directors of “All In: The Fight for Democracy.” They discussed the long history of voter suppression in the state and what organizers are doing to mobilize voters in the final days of the election. » Subscribe to MSNBC:

    1. @Fender 89 republicans aren’t. They claim life starts at conception, yet pregnent women will only see 600$ in stimulus, hmmm. It’s like they don’t regard children as children untill they are born, curious?

  1. Yes ! Thank you Georgia ! Jon Ossoff & Rev. Warnock & let’s help save The Affordable Care Act., Workers Rights, Civil Rights & Education Rights.

    1. @C A
      ?
1- Nono e asked you… 2- we pay open n free global market rates, 3- it’s not because of us that the US pays the rates it does… it’s because the US has the systems that put big pharma against individuals… (where as with universal systems globally.. tend to put big pharm against the central buying/ health depts of nations..
4- it’s just pills, they cost f all.. relative to what individuals in the US pay…, corporates in the US don’t pay those rates…
the pill costs f all.. the US market 👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍👍👍👍 makes it cost$$$
If you’re saying that by the captive market in the US & the US culture of everyone for themselves/ “free market” & extreme capitalism of the US… there are systems in the US where big pharmaceutical uses US taxpayer $ to develop technologies & then sell em globally and pockets the $🤔🤔🤔 Yeap you’d be right👍

    2. @C A
I 😂 of it all is that all? Of these nations with universal healthcare are capitalist nations… just we’re not stupid enough to go so right to the right too often

    3. @C A
So.. Americans aren’t subsidising our systems…. you’re just subsiding your big pharmaceutical share prices n economic fortunes… ya paying way too much

    4. @C A
No one is 😂 at the US… but it keeps believing that all n anything in the US that’s seen as “socialistic” is communistic.. keep voting way over in the right, has the largest % incarceration blah blah.., you will keeping what you kept getting

  2. There’s a history of voter suppression in the states. Native Americans who live on reservations who signed up like everyone else to vote are asked for street addresses on voting days. There are no street addresses on the rez. Black communities in Misissippi, Alabama and Georgia have limited polling stations compared to white communities. This isn’t opinion, it’s continuity.

    1. Those are not Republcan’s, those are imposters posing as Republcan’s. Republcan’s put Country First!

    2. @UNITED NO MORE Awww, it’s cute how you keep lying to yourself. Like a child., you throw a tantrum when you don’t get it your way. Grow up, and stop using emojies, it’s cringey and pathetic, and if you even had a leg to stand on, it just undermines it.

    1. I’m thankful that in my country I can just walk right in and barely have to wait in line to vote.

    2. @Janet Clough the Georgian Secretary of State is threatening people that are line warming with felonies? Now that’s some dirty ish right there!

    3. @Gary Dingle “should” is the operative word in your comment. As idealistic as you are, people like denis charette doesn’t want everybody to vote. He wants to keep the status quo in this country in place where life is a bowl of cherries for some and an everyday struggle for so many others.

    4. @denis charette In Georgia, the Republicans purged the registrations of people who had voted continuously for 30 years. Also, most of the registration was purged in Black communities. Relatives of Martin Luther King had their registrations canceled. I wish you were right about their interest in legal votes. But their interests were in winning the election at any cost. Making voting as difficult as possible is near criminal. It should be a crime.

    5. @Thomas Bayles, I agree, but I am not being idealistic. Most of our democratic allies don’t have any of the problems we seem to encounter during elections. There is nothing idealistic about making sure every citizen can vote with ease. Either we believe in democracy or we don’t. It has been hundreds of years just to allow Black people to vote without racist and bigoted pressures. Now some Republicans think winning at all cost allows them to eliminate Black voters because Black people would much rather not vote for people who hate them, or for people who are supported by racist organizations like the KKK. We have gone back to Jim Crow. You call it idealistic, I call it the bare minimum necessary for a democracy.

  3. It is so awesome to see so many out there waiting patiently to have their voices heard and counted. Hooray for Democracy. Let’s not spoil it for the future.

  4. Brava Bee Nguyen for directly checking lies being told about Georgian voters – stupid, lazy Republican liars got caught with their pants down… and on fire

  5. The Republican’s in Georgia only want their candidates to win… They will do everything they can to make that happen… they don’t believe in Democracy, but in Dictatorship… it’s their way or no way…

  6. The more they try to oppress us and take away our right to vote.., we become more determined to vote!

  7. Biden Harris has won this election , trump is trying to undermine our country’s democracy , trump and his republcan party together with his followers. It’s amazing how easy it is to manipulate the human mind ! ” the new face of terrorism” not to mention high treason, they will say and do anything to avoid possible prosecution or exile
President Biden VP Harris . ” Tax the rich just like us ” Never for get , never say die , never surrender. Vote Blue in Georgia . Vote Blue and vote out voter suppression !

    1. I live in Oregon, and voting is easy. Every citizen should have an option of receiving a ballot in the mail.

  8. And Republicans say that there is voter fraud. They commit fraud by suppressing the vote. Indeed, gerrymandering and suppression is an efficient way to commit fraud.
