@Elmosweed …. I read the article. First of all these are just calls. Not suicide statistics. Second of all the calls were not about suicides. See the quote below from the article. Nothing about suicides.

I believe in a month or so that type of information will be available.
I used common sense to “assume” with over a 300% increase in people seeking help they may miss helping a couple..
The assumption that type of increase in calls does not increase suicides is not highly likely in my opinion.
Even with situations when people are ” only ” suffering from social distancing anxiety that is a very serious condition for some-
People that have this condition do commit suicide.
@Elmosweed ….. It is a myth that economic depression leads to an increase in suicides. You can google all you want. You will find that it never happened in our history. In fact during the Great Depression there was no increase in suicides. Actually the mortality rate decreased during the Great Depression.

@Elmosweed ….. Trump called for a shutdown in order to save lives and Americans listened. Then he said he will send a check for $1200 to everyone to get through the shutdown period. That’s when conservative talkshow hosts like Rush Limbaugh, Alex Jones, Laura Ingraham, Owen Shroyer, Mark Levin, Dan Bongino, Ben Shapiro, and Tucker Carlson got their panties in a bunch. They said that the government is confining us to our homes and giving us a living expense and turning our country into a totalitarian socialist state. Their unfounded fear was psychotic. But they decided to end the shutdown. They started ranting that if the shutdown continues the economy will never come back, mental illness will rise, domestic violence will increase, drug addiction will rise, drug overdose deaths rise and suicides will skyrocket, more people will die from the shutdown than from the coronavirus, and so on. There was no statistic to support any of their theories. They just made that all up on the very first week of the shutdown. Some of them tried to hide it under fiscal conservatism. Their non-stop rant continued for two days and Trump listened.
Then Trump started repeating everything they said and started ranting himself that the cure cannot be worse than the disease. People who were incited by the talkshow hosts were simply waiting for a reason to break the shutdown and come out. Michigan governor Whitmer gave them the reason. Then people started taking to the streets in Michigan. Other states followed. Now all governors are reopening their states in a rush. The only conservative talkshow host who remained fair, honest, compassionate to covid patients and did not make up fake theories was Sean Hannity.
They’re all drag men. And that’s history
