The people who protested were individuals making individual decisions to put their lives on the line for something they believed in. Those protests would have been much larger had covid not been an issue. I know my elderly parents would have protested if they could have. I am not aware that Zimbabwe or the Congo are considered part of the concept of “western” countries. As far as I know for many Americans there is a confusion about Africa in that most of us would be hard pressed to name, 10 African countries. In fact many Americans are not aware that Africa is the name of a Continent-not a country! Although some African countries aspire to incorporate their governments along “Western” political ideas of democracy, some are dictatorships while others are Socialist and I think a few are considering Autocracy and even Theocracy. At any rate, I am aware that because of the colonial period that disrupted the various African countries- there is much caution and some deep resistance for many African countries to identify themselves as “Western” in their thinking or political aspirations. So with this in mind, I will stand by my earlier comments. I will be a little flexible and retract my comment about why you should not have added two African countries to your analysis of poorly run countries. They may well be poorly run, I don’t know enough to depute that. Also, I really do not know what connection two African countries have to the idea that the Trump Administration is possibly the worst run governing body in American history. Thank you for helping me exercise my “little grey cells” As you can imagine, being stuck at home there are few chances to have to think about another adult point of view.
