'This Is Important': Early voters Rush To Polls After Death of Justice Ginsburg | MSNBC
At the close of the Constitutional Convention of 1787, Benjamin Franklin was asked a question as he left Independence Hall on the final day of deliberation. In the notes of Dr. James McHenry, one of Maryland’s delegates to the Convention, a lady asked Dr. Franklin: “Well Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?”
Benjamin Franklin replied: “A republic….if you can keep it.”
Trump is now telling us that we can no longer keep it.
This election will determine whether or not we keep our 244 year old democratic republic. America is in a fight for it’s very survival, and Trump has made it abundantly clear that America isn’t big enough for him and our democratic republic, so therefore one of them MUST GO…

@Philip Berggren Their days in power are slipping away and they’ve lasted this long by continually gaming the system through gerrymandering, hypocrisy, lies and fear. Justice Ginsburg was so strong and courageous. My hope is that the series of events that lead to January 20 will keep generations active and thus become more meaningful than a Supreme Court balance. One thing that seems counter intuitive is that justices more than any other branch understand the Constitution and the limits of political interpretations of it. Granted, another justice Thomas may be stuffed into the court and that intellectual weakening would be sad for justice as a concept.
