Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the spirit of Ukraine have been chosen as Time's 2022 Person of the Year, the outlet announced Wednesday morning.

Many have hailed Zelenskyy as a hero and symbol of hope this year – notably since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February. The 44-year-old president has been applauded for leading and defending his country on the front lines throughout the war.

In the cover photo, Zelenskyy is depicted surrounded by the people of his country, as well as Ukrainian flags, sunflowers (the country's national flower) and more. "Zelensky’s success as a wartime leader has relied on the fact that courage is contagious," Time reporter Simon Shuster writes in an article announcing the decision, describing Zelenskyy's leadership throughout the war and his rise to the world stage.

  1. It’s disrespectful to the great Führer Zelensky to cut out all the emblems and flags of the Ukrainians heroes.

The Red/Black Ukrainian Insurgent Army flag and all the Nazi emblems from SS runes to Dirlewanger emblems.

Zelensky and the Nazis are so proud of their heritage of Nazi collaborators, who follow the same spirit to hunt down ‘subhumans’ today again and in the UN NATO and EU countries made clear, that this is right and true, voting for racism, fascism and nazism. So why do you hide it?

Show some respect to the Nazis you love so much!

  2. Yeah, Hitler also was Time’s person of the year. In reality summary executions are the only “spirit” left as in Hitler’s Germany in 1945. Summary executions are a usual occurrence in Ukrainian army. A soldier can be shot when there is even a slightest suspicion that he wants to desert or surrender. Those refusing suicide attacks also face execution. Zelenskyy regime banned marking of soldiers’ graves with Ukrainian flags . Endless forests of flags at cemeteries across Ukraine proved to be too demoralizing and scary for those still desperately trying to escape forced conscription (which is tantamount to a certain death warrant) .
