    1. @R C No, designed in Canada, made in Canada. Possibly some parts from other countries but our knowledge and workmanship

    2. Easier said than done. According to United Nations’ COMTRADE database for trade, imports from China into Canada totaled $56.3 billion. Imagine the variety of these imports. Now imagine the variety of processes and materials needed to manufacture these goods. It’ll cost hundreds of billions just to get started and getting those types of bills passed will take several years.

BUT with China importing billions of dollars LESS waste that WE (the restof the world) produce, Canada will definitely need to start finding ways to compensate.

    3. @UniteOurWorld And you’re supposed to be ours too, plz remind your President. He has a habit of acting the opposite.

  1. What’s happening is a wake up call on every country not to rely on China or any country .
Avoid buying Chinese goods, it makes them rich and powerful .

    1. You are completely right about that The sad thing is I don’t even think China will be held accountable for this pandemic that they allowed to affect the whole world through their lies and greed

    2. We are in an economic war with China, and North America is supporting their demise by shipping the jobs over there, and buying back the goods.
Meanwhile, they are doing quite well, move to North America and buy out your neighbourhood.
Jobs for Canadians, Manufacturing by Canadians, and affordable homes for all Canadians.

    3. @Kwokman Lam China does not “ship” – our western companies do. They need to move back and ship it from here

    4. @Kwokman Lam That’s why we should not have started buying from them, we can start making the stuff here again.

    1. We can’t make all our goods in Canada. But this should put to bed the lie that we can’t make lots of goods in Canada.

    2. Made by govt of canada is not ‘made in canada’. That’s like when the teacher makes something, and passes credit off to the students.

    3. A Jim Fan well no private companies are opening factories in NA. So I’m not really sure what you’re hoping for here?

  2. That’s what we need to do let’s get Canada’s manufacturing back even after this virus has subsided.

    1. No, then he’s going to share the products with other countries. And it’ll be govt owned and controlled. No industry, unless the govt DECIDES that there is demand. Not free market at all, no growth.

    2. @DarkKnightTrinity Govt investment does nothing, because govt is not after profit and therefore, govt is not interested in growth of the company or asset – especially if it means having to allocate more budget to keep up a growing company or number of assets; the exception is if they resold their ownership to a private investor, but that would involve engaging in private business, which the govt isn’t necessarily adept in (most govt employees are used to arbitrary spending rather than private deal making, even if they have economics degrees).

The only thing govt can do that is effective is tariffs, to give domestic factories an advantage over foreign.

    3. @A Jim Fan Move to U.S.A. – it’s wide open there. But I guess you enjoy the socialized medical plan in Canada.

  3. We will take care of our own, all Canadians first. Esp times like this every country will, before helping others. Best to have certain things in house.

    1. Let’s “return” Canada to strong and free. Lately it’s been weak and opened, betrayed.

    2. Dream on! As soon as this crisis is gone, we’ll be back to normal – everything made in China – in no time…..Wanna bet?

  4. made in Canada the new slogan of the 2020 decade. Lets ramp up crops and farming as well. Its time for consumers to buy Canada first.

  5. Should have always been making things in Canada especially things like this for emergency purposes but glad it’s being done now and hopefully this will show we need to invest in Canada ourselves NOT international investment which I warned about for years, even when asked in surveys online but to no avail

  6. Who is making them what company . Bring back manufacturing and lots of jobs please .. hard to find work past few years it’s so slow In Canada

  7. Canada Proud! Stay strong and step up and help out. That an mean making machines or shopping for the senior next door. 😊🇨🇦

  8. 1:00 – Oh yea, he’s expecting them. If his numbers were anywhere near my rough numbers, he’s expecting their use. I don’t think he “wants” to use them, but I think his wife showed him just how f*****d we are….

  9. Thank you Doug Ford for getting Canadian companies on board with producing PPE for Canadians.
