Trudeau invokes rare emergencies act to stop protests

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has issued his most aggressive response yet to the so-called "Freedom Convoy" protests, invoking the government's Emergencies Act for the first time to try to end more than two weeks of blockades and demonstrations. The law can temporarily suspend people's freedom of movement or assembly and allows authorities to go after those who financially support the protests. CNN's Paula Newton has more. #CNN #News

    1. Remember blm and antifa’ when a Republican is on office remember every single move the Democrat make is going to be used against you.

Remember, a human’s rights is to peaceful protest go against this, and you could be sure it’s going to be used right back on you.

This isn’t about being on the right or left; it isn’t about being a Republican or Democrat.

You have the right to peacefully protest stand with us and unite, or you can be sure the next time you protest, they will use this against you and rightfully so.

    2. @John Freedman I agree.

Only upside is that those people saying i was crazy for not wanting the banks to abolish cash, are now beginning to understand why it is a pretty bad move to only allow people to have “online money”

What he is doing is essentially what everyone will risk in a cashless society.

The banks and the government decides if you can be allowed to use your own money.

    2. @Jacques Joubert Lol, you zombies all repeat the same things over and over again, no matter who you’re talking to, no matter the subject at hand. Everybody has to fit into your little hate filled box. You bootlicking shills are like carbon copies of each other.

    3. All the hyperbole about Trump “destroying democracy” and being a fascist was BS; Democracy is dead in Canada; an authoritarian tyrant is abusing power and the left just sits and twiddles their thumbs….

    2. @Bringa Bong Just a patriot who loves my country. Maybe you should too. Oh wait… conservatives can’t do that.. 🤷‍♀️❄🤷‍♀️❄🤷‍♀️

    3. @Lukas Murch A bit different when the rioters are throwing malatov cocktails, rocks, fireworks at the police. Wtf do you expect them to respond with, flowers?

  1. The time has almost come to where kind words and diplomatic conversations have no more meaning. War is almost imminent. Pray it doesn’t come to that!

    1. @fishhuntadventure
Those JERKS on Jan.6th are finding out what happens when you try to commit insurrection.

    2. @Fritz Haselnuss If you define willfully by what @fishhuntadventure said, you might be misinterpreting his statement. He didn’t say he wanted a war, but a war might not be avoidable “at all costs.” I believe nobody wants war, especially not as strong as the Germans and other Europeans wanted it before WWI. However, if people start getting arrested by more than just dozens (which is the situation right now) and even by hundreds or thousands for simply not complying to vaccine mandates, then we would have a war on our hands. So far, only dozens have been arrested. But if the Canadian government (and any other government) starts to kick down people’s doors because 1. they were part of the protest 2. they donated to the protest and/or 3. they have refused the vaccine, then it’s definitely war.

  2. Incorrect intro : It is not an anti- vaccine movement.; they describe themselves as an anti – MANDATE movement. Get it right.

    1. @Brandon according to ur lamestream narrative, about 90% of Canadian truckers are vaccinated. Try again sheep

    2. Liberals conflate that all the time. It’s always been an anti mandate movement. The government just cares so much for the stupid people.

    3. They also described themselves as “peaceful protestors” but arms, ammunition, and armour were discovered at their blockade in Coutts, Alberta. 13 arrested with charges including conspiracy to commit murder. Domestic terrorists lie.

    4. @Brandon no, that is the MSM picking out certain “sound bites”… this group is NOT just ONE complaint – it is MANY – it is getting kids back in school (w/NO masks), it is allowing businesses to THRIVE & reOpen…. The mandates have STIFLED the economy AND LIFE…it is being able to VISIT their dying or sick relatives in care facilities. Free unrestricted movement. IF you bothered to listen to interviews of YouTubers ON THE STREET that actually interview a WIDE VARIETY (who ever they come across – not cherry picked) of ppl and the REASONS they are there… as well as SIGNS along the fence road and yeah, there are also vax… .

  3. This sets a horrendous and dangerous precedence. It doesn’t matter what side of the aisle one is on, we should all agree this is an undesirable government overreach. Period.

    1. @Groovy Grower I know EXACTLY how the truck industry works. I’ve been in it since 1998 and have 20 trucks on the road tonight.

    2. @MD F you guys use alt right too much, devaluing it’s meaning. Anti mandate was a normal thing before covid for everyone. Now it’s alt right? Take a second to think about what you type

    1. I hope Canadians are intelligent enough to get rid of this boy-man during next elections and STOP voting for liberal morons!! VOTE CONSERVATIVE!!

    2. @Edward L. Voting doesn’t work in America, Both republicans and democrats work tirelessly to keep populist like Trump out, and the established ivy league network of incompetent scum in. I’m certain Canada’s corporate oligarchs control all the parties just like they do here.

    1. It was once used by his father regarding the FLQ. A french terrorist group of over 1000 armed men that even had tanks. That group also did kidnap a bunch of politicians. The law has been changed since then, but it is the same law.

    1. Although I wouldn’t call it “martial law”, the bigger problem is that it *could* be martial law sometime far down the line. Some future PM many years away can invoke the Emergencies Act on any slight civil disobedience (be it BLM, climate change protestors, etc.) and the precedent will have already been set here that this is the threshold.

    2. @James Cross That is not true. From Wiki: “… any government action continues to be subject to the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the Bill of Rights.”

    3. @D Sab wiki has it wrong. The emergency measures act suspends Sections 2 and 7 to 15 of the charter of rights and freedoms

    4. @James Cross Where are you getting this info? On the Justice website: “AND WHEREAS the Governor in Council, in taking such special temporary measures, would be subject to the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the Canadian Bill of Rights and must have regard to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, particularly with respect to those fundamental rights that are not to be limited or abridged even in a national emergency;”

  4. Are the same people that were against trump using federal power to end “protest” in Portland and Seattle cheering on the prime minister for doing the same thing? Just wanna know how hypocritical we goin get.

  5. People apposed the emergency’s act in the 1980’s because of a scenario like this. People that proposed the emergency act. Said something like this would never happen…..

    1. Yes it was Castro jr’s Dad who invoked the first one and the lying prick’s son is following in his father’s footsteps!

  6. “Meesa propose that the Senate give immediately emergency powers to the Supreme Chancellor”

Sorry, couldn’t help but remeber that

  7. It’s pretty sad when the people fighting for freedom are considered the bad guys. Just remember, what they are doing to the truckers, they can do to you, and they will eventually.

    1. @Fritz Haselnuss Freedom is the ablility to travel out of your country, without having to have an injection or isolate for 10 days. That is what they are protesting, peacefully.

    2. @Scott Nunnemaker So why is Trudeau now in control of Crypto? Seizing those assets does not have a thing to do with the convoy.

    1. @James Serapio Body armour is legal. The weapons they haven’t said what they are. Are likely legal as well.
      Your narrative is crumbing…

    2. @James Serapio completely unrelated. It was actually drug related close to the border but had nothing to do with the protest. The family of one arrested has been trying to get the word out.

    3. All the hyperbole about Trump “destroying democracy” and being a fascist was BS; Democracy is dead in Canada; an authoritarian tyrant is abusing power and the left just sits and twiddles their thumbs….

    1. @Endeavourist yeah but that’s not a emergency emergencies arent based off of poor political decisions. They can be wars biological weapons etc. Not protestors it be handled by a compromise or actually listening to why they are protesting in the first place. What Trudeau is doing here is very dictator like and strongarming the truck drivers. There could’ve been huge civil wars over this its at least protesting right now.

    2. All the hyperbole about Trump “destroying democracy” and being a fascist was BS; Democracy is dead in Canada; an authoritarian tyrant is abusing power and the left just sits and twiddles their thumbs….

    3. @Endeavourist Okay, so if the truckers just stop working, then are all the liberal millennials going to go get their class A license and start trucking?

    4. @Running Debate nope. They’ll end up eating their neighbours dogs. And after that die off in the woods because they think they’ll just live off the land. Plus easy pickings for all the hunters and trappers up in the wilderness

  8. . We don’t need a emergency act law to pass as a response to protesters..All that is needed is to just acknowledge the reasonable requests of the protesters (to end mandates of intruding in individuals rights to body autonomy) What is so difficult or unreasonable about this? To go into lying in order to introduce draconian measures instead of listening to the people is “unacceptable ” to use Trudeau’s own word.

    1. What about the “reasonable request” of Canada Unity to have all of government resign to be replaced by the Governor General, Senate, and members of Canada Unity? Oh… Right.

Government should not deal with insurrectionists, and people shouldn’t stand arm in arm with them when they start a “protest”.

    2. @James Serapio No, but the request is simple here. Follow other countries and end the forcing of injections to perform a public job.

  9. “In order to ensure our security and continuing stability, the Republic will be reorganized into the first Galactic Empire, for a safe and secure society!” – Emperor Trudeau

    1. @Gamma Variant Is q in the room with your right now? Are you going to start screaming racist out of nowhere next? What other buzzwords do you have to side-step the subject at hand? Your handlers really need to update your talking points, the script has been falling flat for awhile now.

  10. Trudeau after invoking emergency powers: “In order to ensure security and continuing stability, Canada will be reorganized into the first North American Empire! For a safe and secure society!”

    1. lol… he didn’t really say that, but he was definitely thinking it. Trudeau is an evil POS.. the son of Fidel… that is a fact.

  11. Instead of talking and listening to them, he’s using government over-reach to combat people who are protesting government over-reach.

    1. The alternative argument is that people are breaking the law while accusing the government of breaking the law. Most Canadians don’t have as much of an issue with what they are protesting, but rather how they are going about doing it. Occupying a downtown core for weeks on end while blockading major border crossings that millions of jobs rely on isn’t the way to conduct a protest.

    2. @Endeavourist The border crossing I can agree with you on. It did not have to be weeks if we had a competent leader. Besides our government has been destroying jobs & businesses for the past 2 years.
