@Gerald Arnoult No reporters are intentionally “spreading fear and hysteria around the globe”. They are reporting on a possible pandemic as best they can. However, lack of epidemiological and general scientific knowledge causes both the information being reported and how it is being interpreted to be skewed in the direction of sounding panicky. The American government’s response, that there really is no problem, is also causing a backlash of sorts and unbalancing the reporting. A prevaricating, ill-prepared and frankly, stupid president does little to clarify the situation or quiet fears.
