I still don’t see why anyone would be mad at her when she doesn’t influence policy, probably because she wouldn’t know what to even do. I’m pretty sure we agree on policy at least regarding immigration but the argument should be “the immigrants should stay not Melania” rather than “Melania should be deported or detained so trump can at least be consistent” the argument of applying terrible policy to trump does make the point that he’s a hypocrite but it makes us look vapid

@Mastrelia It is a coup by definition, look the word up. Whether anyone agrees with the truth or not is not relevant, truth is truth. She has said and done hateful things while in a position of power, and is culpable for at least some of what happens. I think she is running Trump for Putin, but that’s my opinion.

You cant reenlist in the military unless you are a citizen. almost all noncitizens in the military get their citizenship in the first enlistment.
They have a lot of waivers to the point they can get citizenship for free in six months after serving honorably for a year (after 911 special provisions allow for only one day in service because of “in service during hostilities”). Even apples to illegal aliens.
You can not have a secret level clearance unless you are a us citizen. And for most deployments you can not get deployed if you cant get a secret level clearance.
For a noncitizen service member over seas in the first place is very unlikely. And to have child is very very unlikely. Most of the time they wouldn’t be able to bring a spouse to even have the child. So it would be a local national they knocked up.
Government employees are more likely for this to apply too.
But the thing is that there was not change in policy at all. The only thing that happened was a handbook had the information in it corrected.
This doesn’t even have anything to do with Trump and there is no law allowing the executive branch to give them citizenship.

Back when I was in the Army we had a bunch of immigrants serving that were getting naturalized through their military service. They worked hard, and were a great resource to our units, they were true brothers to us. This rule insults their sacrifices to serve and lets us see clearly how Trump thinks that military service is an easy way to get citizenship.(Its not!) It severely underestimates the hardships and challenges all our service members face in serving our nation.
@Colleen Reilly Thanks for the kind words. I wouldn’t go as far as calling myself a true patriot though as my sacrifice doesn’t even compare to our brothers who never came back. I just have seen and felt how our diversity makes us stronger as a nation not weaker nor dirtier like Trump’s people try to sell us at every step.

MSNBC is lying. This only affects the children of non citizens. The children of citizens gets birthright citizen ship which they have to go the a embassy to do like everyone else who is a american and has a child over seas.
Would it make sense for a greencard holder to leave the US, have a child and then that child gets citizenship. Because thats the issue that this fixes.
There was a loophole where the state department would illegally give citizenship to the children of non citizens.
There is no law that allows the state department to do this.
tRump only knows about the amendment about guns, and that is because it is written in the cheque the NRA sends him every month!

Baron was an anchor baby. I think Don Jr. was as well. Dropping those anchors allowed Melania and Ivana to stay permanently. Eventually they married Trump, so they likely would have been able to stay in the U.S. anyway.
