Systems with proportional representation tend to have more political parties and foster cooperation in politics and protect minority interest while the US/UK system fosters a 2 party system where people compete in undoing what the other side just did. There are so many negative side-effects of the ‘winner takes all’ system it would take too long to list them, I urge you to look it up.
