Trump impeachment trial vote acquits him in historic second impeachment proceeding | USA TODAY

In historic vote, Senate acquits Trump. Again.

The Senate acquitted former President Donald Trump a second time after a historic impeachment trial where House managers painted him as a lingering threat after his supporters rioted at the Capitol, an argument that failed to convince enough Senate Republicans to convict. The 57-43 vote of the Senate to convict Trump falls short of the two-thirds majority required for conviction.

    1. @Evil Kermit’s Cousin “I’m an independent..”
So that basically means you’re one of these libertarian nut cases that is basically a Trump fanatic but won’t have the fortitude to admit it?

I’ll make it easy for you ,Trump fanatic…
How about you demonstrate to me what was wrong with the prosecutions argument and what was right about the defenses argument? Can you do that for me?

    2. @Tomax XXX “ I’m guessing…“
I’m not trying to convince myself of anything I’m just facing reality unlike yourself.

      “Freedom of speech..”
That’s rather comforting. I wonder… Do you think Trump is thinking in those parameters after five people died because of his idiocy? They charge the capital whereas he himself just hid in the White House?

I hate to break this to you but you don’t understand the constitution. You don’t understand anything pertaining to this particular situation. Because if you had? You wouldn’t be so insipid as you are currently.

      “Just like…”
It’s interesting that you bring that up because it ended up the same way as last time… But the Republicans pretty much derailing any actual investigation.
Guess they don’t want to lose any more voters because they lost the presidency they lost the house and they lost the Senate. But they don’t want to lose the fihuckster salesman Who needs to keep people such as yourself placated.

By the way? How is that working out and getting Hillary Clinton sorted out? Your man had four years.
Maybe he should’ve spent more time actually working instead of golfing, holding rallies and eating big Macs?

    1. @ brian fike, Hey everyone, Brian is on to something here, we could do a musical and have it like the “Sound of Music” with Nancy Palosi opening up with a catchy little number singing” the Hills are alive with the sound of spennnndddiiiiinnnngggg” Maybe she then does sort of a Mary Poppins thing where she floats down with an umbrella into a giant pile of cash. Wearing a mask of course to hide her ugly mug and adhering to good social distancing slash whatever the daily psyop orders are.

    2. They accuse Trump of trying to overturn an election when that’s all the dems have been trying to do the past 4 year’s.

    3. @ Chris, It doesn’t help that the demoncats are supported 24-7 by a criminal propaganda lap dog media either. The media would have to be found guilty and all of them thrown in jail if they are going to start this thought police BS.

    4. At this point they’re addicted to him they can’t leave without him. They will find another excuse to sue him.

    1. @Keith Freitas what five things might those be actually? I lived through four years of his joke of a presidency so maybe you could tell me what I might be missing…?

    2. @Haha LOL
If an alien came to earth and said: “I’ve heard about a branch of political philosophy called American conservatism, what exactly does that entail?” do you really believe that your pathetic quotes would enlighten him? I hope you don’t.

The reality is, those quotes wouldn’t help him at all, because they raise questions, beg them, in fact. For instance, what exactly are “American traditions”, what is “economic liberalism”, and “western culture” and what does respect and support of those things involve and mean? How do they respect and support them?

    3. @RD well of course my net worth would be higher but I don’t have a rich daddy to bail me out and of course I have to pay taxes unlike fat Donnie.

I find it interesting that Trump fanatics seem to believe that wealth is indication of leadership capability.

    1. @John D Yeah, well the man who smashed the windows in Auto Zone was a member of Hell’s Angels, and what you didn’t see was the video of BLM protesters trying to put that fire out. Do some research so you know what you’re talking about.

    2. I Fired ALL the swamp people back in November….Also as We The People With Brains All Did….Really goes without saying at this point……

    3. Has it occurred to anyone, that the Biden Administration’s actions after inauguration, the executive orders, etc, have hurt the overall goal of convicting Trump. The deluge of executive orders caused the Republicans to raise the ramparts. The Republicans were driven to the choice to be morally immoral.

Tolerance is American. Democrats, maybe it’s time?

    1. @Salmon Moon and then later they’ll say a pipe had burst and that’s why we sent everyone to sleep. Then after that they say actually, it was only a leaky toilet, and that is somehow enough to send people home. Then AFTER THAT, they’ll say actually, we never sent anyone home to sleep at all(even though it was live news that everyone had already seen they were sent home and their votes also stopped tallying). Then WE show video that they did send everyone home to sleep and that the same people who sent them home added all the votes themselves with no one to witness it EXCEPT FOR THE CAMERAS

In a position where no matter what they say they are just debunking their own previous statements. Also, either story they choose is illegal.

1-they say they sent people home and stopped counting, that it already against the rules
2-they say they never stopped counting- well it’s illegal to count the votes without the watchers, and we know for fact they went home.

  1. All Politicians should return all checks and should live we do. If they have become millionaires while being a Politician they should be investigated.

    1. Just give them all the same trial they gave Trump and increate them. The fence and razor wire are already surrounding Congress, a perfect start. Just hand them all orange jumpsuits and use the lobby for cots.

Just have the troops point their weapons at Congress instead of us.

  2. Now Congress can get back to doing what it does best and that is stealing and doing nothing for the American people. Term limits.

    1. @Mythraen Now you’re flat out lying, you saw the manipulation of the videos that the msm and the dems and the lawyer for Trump showed the whole video exposing their fraud. Showed the dems using the same “fight” words, Waters doing even worse that did lead to violence. So shut the hell up with your lies

    2. It looks like there’s a core of 40 solid Conservative Republican Senators and 10 Establishment Republicans (sellouts) along with the 50 Chinese Communist Democrats. So after America puts up with Biden destroying the economy for the next two years, Americans could take back the Senate and maybe even the House which would shut down anymore damage to the Country from Biden and the Communist Democrats.

    3. @Mythraen Everything was reported to officials and it won’t correct lost votes. Hopefully it will correct things for the midterms. That’s just one issue. There is widespread voter fraud. Like I said you can believe whatever you like and watch the mainstream media that filters out anything they don’t want you to hear. It’s really none of your business, but I don’t watch Fox News. That situation with Hunter was very true or Twitter would not have shut down the New York Post Newspaper. Facebook completely shutoff the accounts of private citizens who shared this article. They needed to hide this…they must have not realized that voter fraud was going to win this for senile Joe, they didn’t need to use all of their power to campaign for him.

    2. @Jim Spears Sigh. That’s a common misconception, and you clearly missed the point of what Reagan was getting at…

Perhaps you should read De Grand’s “Italian Fascism: It’s Origin & Development” to gain a better understanding of the subject.

The YouTube comments section isn’t an appropriate forum to educate you on the subject, so I suggest you educate YOURSELF and READ A BOOK for once in your life.

Next you’re going to tell me the Nazi’s were Right Wing, too… (another popular misconception)

    3. @Alpenglow123 While I agree with you to a certain extent, how exactly were the Republicans being “morally immoral”?

I think it’s ENTIRELY moral to defend a man who has been persecuted with repeated false accusations. The Democrats have taken Dirty Politics to a whole new level!

Also, it wasn’t just the TORRENT of Executive Orders that made the Republicans “raise the ramparts”. It was the NATURE of many of those EO’s. I think most Republicans can see the dangerous Leftward lurch the Democrats have made, and know it needs to be opposed for the good of the country.

    1. @Black Cadillac
Just do what the Church of Scientology did and hire so many lawyers that they’re so buried in legal paperwork to the point where they CAN’T do anything.

    2. Has it occurred to anyone, that the Biden Administration’s actions after inauguration, the executive orders, etc, have hurt the overall goal of convicting Trump. 1. I believe in term limits ! Serving your country shouldn’t make you rich !!!We need new blood in the Congress and Senate !!

    1. @Amber L BS, the real collusion was Obama and Biden, and Mueller’s team of all dem lawyers came up with nothing out of that.

    2. @Some Guy on the Internet Yeah, like Biden and his son. Hillary and her scams and lies, Obama with his deals such as Fast and Furious.

    3. @Antone Alpha I agree. I don’t think there is any good justification for the actions of those who attacked the capitol. And I believe that they should be convicted and held accountable for their actions on a case by case basis.

    4. @Vyrin If “When you catch somebody in a fraud, you are allowed to go by very different rules” isn’t asking someone to commit insurrection, I don’t know what is.

  4. And their are people in this country that actually “look up” to our so called Representatives. They must be the walking brain dead lol.

    2. @JDFarin 1 i said , modern society does not need government IN ITS CURRENT FORM< meaning useless bickering congressmen and women. what true purpose do they serve , that you deem so necessary, that the people could not handle themselves? Anarchy has absolutely nothing to do with my comment.

  5. The Senate and House have done nothing for 4 years, literally NOTHING ….. I can’t wait till the next election

    1. @Some Guy on the Internet This is liberal logic. Not like it matters anyways, Biden has openly stated there is nothing he can do to change the trajectory of the pandemic.

That’s not even including his blatant lies about stimulus checks or the fact that he called Trump a dictator and then signs more executive orders in 3 weeks than anyone before.

Leftists love putting their bigotry and hypocrisy on full display.

    2. @Jerel Wayne i am pretty sure DSLethal’s comment was anecdotal, like for example and there are many more. any sane person can not deny that the economy and employment was doing great pre-pandemic…4 years of Trump was great for this country, why would people “vote” that out?

    3. @Hugh Jass Congratulations, you’ve just written the most absurd, straw-man addled comment I’ve ever read in my entire life.

Where do I even start with this? Signing executive orders is not even remotely the same as attempting to overturn the results of an election.

Second, Biden was sadly correct when he said that the current trajectory was not going to change. We did unfortunately see a spike in deaths in the final week of January. We’ve thankfully seen a decrease in deaths in recent weeks, but we’re likely to still see over 600,000 deaths, mainly because we’ve been on this course for so long that it’s going to be very, very difficult to change the trajectory. Had proper actions been taken earlier in the pandemic, we would not be starting from such a high level of deaths.

Third, bigotry? Against who, exactly? Last time I checked, Trump was the one who barred trans people from joining the military and attempted to void votes from majority black cities like Detroit and Atlanta. Seems like he’s the bigot, not me.

    4. @Hugh Jass I have to agree, Trump did a lot of good for the country.I voted for him but like every other election I voted in I was voting against someone rather than for someone. If Trump hadn’t acted like a 13 year old girl on a meth binge with his twitter he would have been better off. I guess in short I liked his policies but not the man.

    1. Agree, only because it was clear that the Republicans would no have voted to convict if Trump himself had shot someone in the Senate chamber.

    1. @Bob I don’t think so. As long as each impeachment is about something different, technically they could keep trying to get him impeached if they could find a reason. Though why they would waste time and resources trying to impeach a guy who’s not even president anymore is beyond me.

    1. @SparkleSparkleSparkle You do know that the man was already out of office, impeachment wouldn’t have done anything. If you wanted him in prison then they are doing the wrong trial.

    2. @Erect As A Duck He can’t run if he was convicted of an actual crime either. If you actually wanted Trump screwed over then you should convict him in a criminal trial, not an impeachment

    3. @Jedi_Connor I don’t really care who gets impeached at this point the government is incapable of making decisions like that instead of working together they waste time and money for nothing.

    4. @Jedi_Connor sorry but I don’t think you understand how American political government actually functions.
