Republicans stopped trying to govern a long time ago. The GOP is consumed with an insatiable greed for money and an obsession for power, and it’s combined with such an intense intolerance towards people of other races, classes, parties, religions, regions or nations, that it makes them ruthless in their deliberate perversion of truth and facts to attain their ends.
Conservatism, by its very core nature, is an absolutist, black-and-white way of thinking. They seem to be hard-wired into this obstinacy, to the point of pathological obsession. This is why repubicans are simply incapable of governing, because Republicans aren’t interested in governing, they want to rule, and there’s a big difference between the two.
