Trump Indifference To Governing A Symptom Of Post-Policy GOP | Rachel Maddow | MSNBC

Rachel Maddow considers the possibility, as proposed by Steve Benen in his new book, The Impostors, that best way to make sense of the political behavior of Donald Trump and the Republican Party is to realize that they are not interested in policy so much as obtaining and preserving power. 1. Trump has the views of Fox Conspiracy News opinion shows like Hannity, Tucker, Laurah Ingraham. Judge Jeanine , Lou Dobbs, Varney, John Soloman. and others. They broadcast their opinions and Trump parrots them. Hannity talks to Trump personally.

    1. @K H Carlson isn’t a college drop out. And being a college drop-out doesn’t mean you’re stupid or uneducated either. If I go read a history book, absorb its contents and think critically about it, I am educating myself. You don’t need a formal education to educate yourself.

    2. @sam Iaint lol sorry, wasn’t referring to you. The comments were retoricale becous Rachel Meddows can’t answer me.🤗

  2. After the Roosevelt Room and the Lincoln bedroom, Trump says his favorite room in the White House is the Oval Office. He thinks President Oval was a ‘really really great great President.’

    1. But yet you guys keep voting democrat. The same ones who allowed slavery. You guys look like hypocrites if you ask me.

    2. @JEFFREY ANG In southern drawl .Messiah me and “messiiiier”.Someone who leaves a mess behind,💩😷

    3. @Hotel Madoka At least Democrats didn’t vote a human who claimed himself to be a messiah and suggest fellow Americans to inject and digest disinfectants.

  3. What does Trump and a bottle of beer have in common?
They’re both empty from the neck up.

    1. @Ludo Ludowski Trump’s father is different from Trump, obviously. In fact, he was a Democrat. Trump was also a democrat but switched parties.

    2. @muhammad was a pedophile caravan robber And why do they not prosecute Mike Folmer , or don’t distance from , Dennis Hastert, who was the longest speaker of the house. He was a republican and the highest ranking convicted elected official for CHILD MOLESTATION. So i think you need to shut your mouth,.Do you know the white supremacy symbol ?
Here is a link to Trump making it. https://twitter.com/i/status/1267233230996090881

  4. That’s about the size of it.
Trump has no policy platform, except to say, whatever works for him in the moment.
    “Dude’s gotta go!”

    1. @Carriemchardy Carrie just ignore the mentally ill person. They need attention, probably latent Mommy issues. It doesnt do any good to engage them.

    2. @Ludo Ludowski the problem is other people see these remarks and think its ok, when its not. I dont mind answering, its a battle of wills I enjoy.

    3. Richard, have you been watching only Rachel Maddow’s show for the last few years? If so, you would be clueless to what is going on in the real world outside the fantasy one she has created.

Bringing back jobs and manufacturing from oversea’s with better trade deals. Incentivize production and work in the US by lowering corporate tax rates and with the new trade deals making it so it’s not so one sided financially to produce in China or Mexico over the US.

      Energy independence,.

Preventing human trafficking and drugs coming through the south border by putting up a real border wall making it easier for CBP to prevent this. Promotion of legal immigration instead of promoting illegal immigration with no accountability of criminals entering with drugs and trafficking women and children.

Creation of opportunity zones in low income neighborhoods which incentivize investment and growth in those communities.

Allies contributing promises to NATO and UN budgets instead of the US paying for the majority. Having allies pay part of the tab for US military security in their countries protecting them instead of doing it completely free.

    1. No, every molecule in Fakepresident Trump’s corpulence is laser-focused on one thing only: get re-elected.

  5. I like the part where millions of t’rump supporters thought that they finally won the big one over the libs and that t’rump would finally make us respect them, only to have it back fire when they realized they voted in the dumbest, most incompetent president in history. Oops! Talk about getting self-owned. 🤨 😅😂🤣

    1. President of the Virgin Islands ask any economist and they will say that Obama’s economy was horrible. Your policies don’t make things better after they have gotten worse just because you left office. Also trump can’t control the virus better than anyone else, and that is why the unemployment is bad right now. Also in case you didn’t know, Trump added 1.5 million jobs in May. He is working wonders for the economy and number support it

    2. @Nathan Embree Get lost you gave away you troll status the minute you said any of those talking points which are straight from Trump’s propaganda machine.

    3. Go away fool gas lighting doesn’t work on me. Trump is the worst President in American history.

    4. @Nathan Embree “t’rump added 1.5 million jobs.” But aren’t those mostly the ones we lost in March and April? And you give him credit for those gains, so I’m sure you also blame him for losing them in the first place, right? 🙄

  6. Every day is a birthday for Trump:
cake, two scoops of ice cream
and a clown with a painted face.

  7. Republicans stopped trying to govern a long time ago. The GOP is consumed with an insatiable greed for money and an obsession for power, and it’s combined with such an intense intolerance towards people of other races, classes, parties, religions, regions or nations, that it makes them ruthless in their deliberate perversion of truth and facts to attain their ends.

Conservatism, by its very core nature, is an absolutist, black-and-white way of thinking. Conservatism is rooted in the past; it is hidebound, dogmatic, intellectually incurious, unwilling to explore and examine differing viewpoints, and completely, often rabidly dismissive of evidence to the contrary of its beliefs and core principles. “Conservative” people tend to be adamantly, willfully, often venomously ignorant of the truth, because the truth offends them. They seem to be hard-wired into this obstinacy, to the point of pathological obsession. This is why repubicans are simply incapable of governing, because Republicans aren’t interested in governing, they want to rule, and there’s a big difference between the two. Ruling, and authoritarianism, lies at the heart of what conservatism has always been about..

“The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerated the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than the democratic state itself. That in its essence is fas-cism: ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or any controlling private power.”
    ― Franklin D. Roosevelt

    1. @buttgoo magoo – The principles of democracy are totally lost on you aren’t they. The idea of testing a proposition with counter argument and facts is just totally over your head. You are one stage up from resolving an argument by throwing faeces at each other. I despair.

    2. Keven Pitt, thank you for your discussion of Friedrich Hayek. I have seen his name before, but never knew much about him, except that I thought he led what was called “the Austrian school of economics”. I appreciate someone who helps me and others learn.

    3. Hotel Madoka said: “You do know the Democratic party created slavery, KKK, Jim Crow laws….. The same rules would apply to democrats if you are going by this “law”. It blows my mind how little history you actually know.” Yes, RACIST Democrats in Southern states created those laws over 125 years ago, Hotel Madoka. Do you know where the actual and political descendants of those people are? They all joined the REPUBLICAN Party after President Johnson got the Civil and Voting Rights Acts passed in the 1960’s. Google “Nixon’s Southern Strategy. It blows my mind that you think other people know so little history that you can get away with this kind of baloney.

    4. buttoo magoo said “yeah,,you’re a buttmunch!!@ argue that!!” Thanks for showing us what a Trump supporter is like, buttoo magoo. It is good to know where they are coming from.

  8. and the likely strategy to try to get re-elected is to suddenly ‘find’ a vaccine for covid19 in late-october. the theory is that it lets him sweep through and only later we find it was not properly tested and dangerous. this came from a nyt op-ed and is quite possible…

    1. He’s draining the swamp, and making it a CESSPOOL of his own sycophant “yes men” who do his bidding.

  9. I hope the GOP takes a RESOUNDING loss in November… unfortunately, we have to depend on the american people to fix this… :/

    1. You dems have shot yourselves in the foot. Trying to impeach him from day 1 so he won’t unmask all the Democrats corruption. Q will reveal all

    2. Dano Duncan Q was right about everything related to the virus, how it came from a lab, how it is a fast spreading flu. Seems pretty real to me

    3. @Nathan Embree you mean all four of them ?… everything was on the news, all but your presiDUNCE knew what was happening LOL !… XD

    4. Nathan Embree You worship a dude who takes his name from the James Bond car guy?🤣🤣🤣
That’s beyond sad. What does inspector gadget have to say about the world? 🤦‍♂️

  10. You got what you voted for! Do you now realize what your actually means? Register!… Vote!… Stay safe ✌

  11. The things Trump cares about are: his ratings, his rallies and watching non stop Fox News for fake outrage news to then tweet to his rabid base. His only concern is keeping the base outraged and hating the Democrats. That’s his strategy. No policy, no responsibility and full authority. Will the rest of America reward this behavior? Let us hope not.

    1. @THEKING614 Very good! I got one more. The words listen and silent have the same letters.coincidence?

    2. @THEKING614 I’m more of a common sense person…you’re making comments about how you think the Democrats deserve hate. Then, to show how you are particularly clueless, you accuse them of dividing the country as if you are not, *in this very thread* , actively causing division.

  12. The whole idea is tragically ironic. The concept of “small government” requires an _effective_ government. But the road they’re going, seemingly passive _occupation_ of power without governing, seem it might lead to some absurd kind of governmental bloated anarchy.

  13. “An hour later…” try THREE SENTENCES!! he cannot remember what he said three sentences ago!
