@Trailin’ Annie No, you are wrong. Though it is true that I hate Trump, I don’t blame him for, say, the first 50,000 American deaths. After all, that is about how many European countries handled it. They gave us an example of what happened by not closing down or reopening too soon. But now that those countries which were only weeks ahead of us are reopening without issue and we are 150k into it, I took the trouble to look at international statistics. And if we expand their per capita deaths to our own population, there is no comparison. We have handled this worse than almost anyone. We are up with UK and Brazil, which are experiencing an explosion of cases.
And that I blame on Trump and Fox News for telling Americans that this was just like the flu and that it would be over in a matter of weeks. You can blame China or Obama or Hillary or anyone you want, but Trump is in the White House and he says he is responsible for everything good and plays golf when the news is bad.
Despite 150k+ dead and a ruined economy, I’d put up with all of it if he wasn’t a danger to democracy and the Constitution. As it is, he must go.

Australia’s at it’s worst point all pandemic right now, but the PM is no-where to be seen. He did make a rare appearance recently to say he supports the State leader who is running the response & then he moved back out of the spotlight to let the state leader Dan Andrews & his team continue leading the country’s response. Cuomo sort of managed to do this during NY’s worst, what exactly is stopping all state governors from doing this the whole time?
If trump won’t step up, they the state leaders need to simply close the state borders & take 100% control of all cases in their state. Ban anyone who may have covid from entering the state, even trump & take control as if they are running their own country

@Todd Daniel thanks 🙂 That’s my thinking anyway. I mean it works, as can be seen in many examples around the world, but in reality, it’s the ONLY option available to the US. It’s crazy to think that trump will change & lead, that just won’t happen & between November & January (which is winter & when the virus will be at it’s worst) there’s going to be chaos at a federal government level, so in reality, state leaders doing it is the only viable option.
They can’t do it while cases can just play merry go round & move from state to state & it’s not realistic to think 50 governments with totally different ideals will be able to work together & co-ordinate without higher leadership overseeing it, so closing the state borders & managing each area individually is the only viable option remaining.
Once the virus is contained & state economies largely re-opened without further out of control outbreaks, then they do as European countries & Australian states & Chinese provinces have done & talk with each other & those of similar containment level re-open to each other, eventually leading to a fully re-opened country once everyone has control & until then, the states with control can begin sending resourses (human & equipment) to the most effected states to support them. Can’t do that while the whole country’s infected though, need to contain it, but with closed borders to keep it contained once it’s achieved

Those in Trump’s GOP have revised the history of the H1N1 outbreak during Obama’s Administration to attempt to justify the Trump team’s botched response to the Trump Pandemic. It’s a poor comparison as the Obama Administration had a working test for the H1N1 virus shipping out to all states in two weeks from the first case in the US. Trump’s team has yet to do that for the Trump Pandemic. Until standardized, reliable and quick tests are available, controlling the spread of the Trump Pandemic will be impossible.

@Trailin’ Annie I don’t hate Trump actually. He is at least honest about who he is compared to other politicians on both sides but there is no question that he only cares about himself. If you fail to see that, I respectfully disagree. As far as COVID is concerned, no one is blaming him for the virus itself. But he has done a terrible job at controlling it on time and continues to play politics about masks etc. Instead, if he listens to the experts and tells everyone to wear masks and follow the basic hygiene rules, may be we will have less deaths ? Just a thought.
