But the main point I’m making is if Trump does become totally unglued, which is entirely possible he won’t go quietly if they try and remove him from the Presidency. He may buckle under the pressure. What will happen ? Something very drastic, I hope not but maybe something crazy drastic.
that’s exactly it… trump tells everyone “promises made, promises kept”, Hannity and others also echo this sentiment. But I have been asking conservatives for the last two years (almost since trump took office): “which campaign promises has Trump kept?”
So far, though they will continue to claim he has kept promises, not one person has given me a single thing that trump promised in his campaign and later fulfilled as president. He hasn’t really fulfilled any promises he made after becoming president either.
Sure, he reworked some trade deals.. but it wasn’t exactly like he said it would be when he made the promises. Take NAFTA for example: Trump said he was going to institute tariffs on Mexico and Canada. That didn’t exactly happen. And they did replace NAFTA with the USMCA… sort of. The USMCA hasn’t been ratified yet, which means this promise is not only unfulfilled in part, it is unfulfilled in whole.
I could provide a long list of promises not kept. But it’s easier to list the few things he did keep. Off hand, all I can think of is declaring China a currency manipulator.
Yet, conservatives will continue to support this habitual, pathological liar and believe in his fantasy world of fulfilled promises. Even those that directly affect the average conservative, like Trump’s fake middle-class tax breaks. THey all see they aren’t paying less in taxes; they are actually paying more, broadly. More than $90 billion more in 2018 for middle class. Yet they deny the objective reality and buy into the Trump cult anyway.
Sad… how a liar like this can manipulate and delude an entire segment of the American populace.
