TSA Whistleblower Says Agency Isn’t Doing Enough To Keep Officers, Passengers Safe | MSNBC

While many worry about coronavirus risks that may come with flying on an airplane, there could be another health concern before passengers even get to their gate. Jay Brainard, the TSA Federal Security Director for the state of Kansas, filed a whistleblower complaint over the lack of national safety guidelines at TSA checkpoints, and tells Lawrence O’Donnell the agency still is not doing enough to keep officers – and passengers – safe. Aired on 6/25/2020.

    1. Laurie Huntley : I second that. So, don’t fly, America? It will be inconvenient for a while, but the airline WILL clean up its act, if you hit them in their wallets. They always do. And, thank you, Lawrence (and team), for alerting us ✌️👍

  1. They gotta be sure to get your facial metrics covering your eyes and nose so their technology can recognize you in disguise or covered with a mask.
    Security THEATER at its best

  2. Meanwhile airlines are promoting flying is safe again…if you make it to, and off the plane without contracting Covid.

    1. Not to mention on the plane, where recycled air systems ensure that – eventually – every passenger has breathed every other passengers’ air.

    2. And I still have my doubts about safety on the plane. I believe the air filters are working. But as long as we are packed in like sardines, with ZERO contact tracing, and common touch points (arm rests, overhead bins) this will continue to spread.

  3. Meanwhile, t’rump has achieved “Mandatory Quarantine” status, as he flies from outbreak state to outbreak state.
I hope he has enough clorox injections! 💉😫💀

  4. To blame the government/TSA on the national level is deflecting the responsibility of government on the local level; By being a leader and having common sense can go a long way.

    1. @Stacy Jaye I am focused maybe you should try to understand what far and near means.
On the local level, the Federal Security Director for each given airport can put in place common sense rules and regulations in line with CDC guidelines. This will keep TSA Officers and passengers as safe as possible.

  5. The absolute insanity of flying during a global pandemic! Those 6 workers RIP Your country cares not one crap that you died as long as they could fly because they felt entitled to. FM

    1. As someone who was FORCED into flying during a pandemic, I sure wish I felt entitled. Jeesh, lady. Where is your compassion?
Instead of blaming the folks keeping your lights on and food in your stores, why not place the blame where it belongs? AT. THE. TOP. A serious lack of leadership is what let the situation get this bad in the first place.

  7. US states are instituting temperature checks at offices and restaurants, but a quarter of coronavirus patients don’t develop a fever.
Temperature checks don’t identify patients who are asymptomatic, pre-symptomatic or experiencing symptoms other than a fever.

Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease, estimated in April that between 25% and 50% of people infected with the coronavirus never show symptoms. More recently, the CDC estimated the portion to be around 35%. Plus, a person’s symptoms generally don’t appear for two to 14 days after their exposure to the virus. This leaves a window during which a person can be contagious but still have a normal body temperature.

Asymptomatic COVID-19 testing and what you should know.

It’s important to note COVID-19 tests can only offer a point-in-time snapshot as to whether or not you are currently infected and warns even with expanded testing eligibility, Albertans cannot be complacent. /By Tom Roulston Global News

  8. That is criminal negligence of the employers of these dutiful, exposed workers. Once, not too long ago, unions would not have allowed this to occur. As for using the same gloves to pat down multiple passengers -WHAT????????? They’re actively spreading the virus. America is nuts. It’s blowing all the effort it put into the lockdown, because it is dropping the ball on so many other important measures: testing, contact tracing, quarantining, masks, PPE . The countries that acted quickly and scientifically have crushed the pandemic, and have taken the smallest economic hit. US infections are still going up and instead of restoring the economy by re=opening too early, Trump is going to damage it further. That’s what the INF update said yesterday. It’s not rocket science. It’s just good science.

  9. So ..where has all the bailout money spent on gone to?? This was to help employees to be safe and pay wages !! Jared the SNAKE told the citizens ..”
Thats our stockpile .not the states or americans . ”
Even thpugh OUR TA MONEY is spent constantly for WHAT certain criminal politicians Want to spend it on . !! Americans we got to STOP THESE CRIMINALS!

  10. PEOPLE! Gear yourselves up! I work at Walmart and the grocery store in my town, putting Sara Lee bread on the shelf. I simply copied the nurses and the doctors. Bonnet on my head, bandana around my forehead, safety glasses, 3M cool rugged half mask with 3m p100 OV filters, latex under my work gloves. And I will admit, I also ordered a case of surgical n95 mask for my family. At this point, I’m not going to fall on the sword because the medical community wasn’t ready and still isn’t ready!! Look out for yourselves!

  11. They’re not just passing it on to the next passenger, but all subsequent passengers in line.
If you really want to get it out there, this might be the best way….
