  1. No economic recovery without first controlling the epidemic. I didn’t know how many times we need to learn this lesson.

Trump is more concern about his family business than covid

    • @fsf dsfa
      What is your point?
      Sowing further division?
How is people to hold the politicians accountable without news?

    • There’s nothing new about that statement.
You could have said that in 2016 about America/World vs his own pocket and been just as correct.

@Diane Hooper Agreed. I see it this way…trolls do what a troll is going to do. My job is to step over it and keep going…

This version of America is disgusting to watch. I think I’m done with any all who support Trump. Including any family and friends. I cannot allow these people to be in my life who support him.

    • Hamish Gaffaney | August 4, 2020 at 4:29 PM | Reply

@Roger C yes the buck stops with him, now I get your Trumper and you probably take no responsibility whatsoever for any of your problems like your dear leader, most of the problems I mentioned could have been solved with decent leadership, you Trump people really need to grow up and take some god dam responsibility

    • @Gambit771 covid doesn’t care about sides. When will people realize Trump’s virus is killing us all together.

covid is used to eliminate their opponents via hit squad, then blame death on covid aka paid corrupt coroner death certificate……… and to get rid of criminal gangs in the slums.

How ironic that the supposed most powerful nation in the world is brought to its knees by the lowest form of biological life.

    • Tragically, the “most powerful nation in the world” has one of the most iniquitous, inefficiant and woefully inadequate healthcare systems in the world. The same “most powerful nation” is led by the most corrupt, self-serving, criminal president in American history, enabled by a gutless, sycophantic cabal of loons and crooks. With the combination of ineptitude, corruption, and lack of humanity, America might as well have put out a ‘Welcome” mat for the virus to enter.

    • Chris Draughn | August 4, 2020 at 9:38 AM | Reply

Our greatness has always been exaggerated.

    • Zokizzy Foshizzy | August 4, 2020 at 10:01 AM | Reply

@Chris Draughn Well now hopefully America will show a little more modesty. Probably not since you guys see that as a form of “weakness”.

    • @Zokizzy Foshizzy – On a slightly related note, whether or not viruses are actually a “form of biological life” is an interesting and unresolved question. If anyone is interested I recommend an article in Scientific American: https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/are-viruses-alive-2004/

    • I know, Right.

  9. Richard Owens | August 4, 2020 at 3:23 AM | Reply

Consider everything Trump says and does in the context of how it might help him cheat, steal, or get away with some crime – then, it all starts to make sense.

    • @w1ldflwr572 and yet they still back him up with their votes. Dem’s tried to impeach him and GOP wouldn’t.

    • Erick Borling | August 4, 2020 at 12:46 PM | Reply

COVID is Trump’s favorite concentration camp.

    • Diane Hooper That explains why his poll numbers are so bad and why membership in the GOP has dropped steadily since the 2016 election took place. 🙄. Registered Democrats now outnumber Republicans nationwide by some 12 million.

As for who independent voters align with: “independents right now are more likely to align with Democrats. Asked by Gallup if they “lean” Republican or Democratic, 52 percent of independents said they lean to the Dems and 36 percent said they lean toward the GOP. Four years ago, 44 percent of independents leaned Republican, 43 percent Democratic.”

You really don’t know wtf you are talking about. Try leaving your glass bubble once in awhile or simply do some research. 😉

    • june bug Politically the GOP representatives don’t have much choice at this point (*unlike the actual citizen voters*) bc they have already put all their eggs in one basket. Those who aren’t currently holding office in the GOP have been very vocal about supporting Biden as we’ve seen from non-Democrat groups political ads.

    • Erick Borling It really is, sadly. The fact that it’s eliminating lower-class citizens unlikely to vote for Trump is a “feature” for the GOP not a bug.

  10. trump and the republicans have literally dismantled America as the leaders of the free world let alone its own people

  11. We’ve suffered a 9/11 every three days for 5 months.
But t’rump is out there golfing and rage tweeting because he’d rather we all forget that.

    • Crystal Giddens lol no. The death toll isn’t fake just because you don’t wanna wear a mask. When you or a loved one gets infected or dies, you’ll stop watching OANN and start doing your own research instead of linking to a random British “news source” that doesn’t have anything to do with America.

    • you mean the event where someone poured jet fuel and light a match and then watch the structural engineered buildings crumble down in free fall speed, peeling like a banana? and to the point where the cause of falling concrete/metals break physics laws by making building #7 also to crumble down in free fall speed without needing to be hit by an airplane?

      that 9/11?

    • @Lu Men that’s correct, the russians, chinese and north korea, and don’t forget iran…
wait, there is cuba also……. i think cuba paid trump to be president so they can control him.

trump works for all these countries.

    • And his classic move is to blame everyone else he can think of.

“No one should be shocked that a liar who has made almost 20,000 false or misleading claims during his presidency would lie about whether the U.S. had the pandemic under control; that a racist who gave birth to birtherism would do little to stop a virus that was disproportionately killing Black people; that a xenophobe who presided over the creation of new immigrant-detention centers would order meatpacking plants with a substantial immigrant workforce to remain open; that a cruel man devoid of empathy would fail to calm fearful citizens; that a narcissist who cannot stand to be upstaged would refuse to tap the deep well of experts at his disposal; that a scion of nepotism would hand control of a shadow coronavirus task force to his unqualified son-in-law; that an armchair polymath would claim to have a “natural ability” at medicine and display it by wondering out loud about the curative potential of injecting disinfectant; that an egotist incapable of admitting failure would try to distract from his greatest one by blaming China, defunding the WHO, and promoting miracle drugs; or that a president who has been shielded by his party from any shred of accountability would say, when asked about the lack of testing, ‘I don’t take any responsibility at all.’ ”

That is one potent and damning paragraph.

    • Well put. I’ve been wondering why people in general and the media in particular have been continuously surprised, often at the cost of missing the point entirely, for three and a half years. Trump may lie about facts, but he rarely lies about his intentions. And they’ve been all there, all the time.

  16. Ed Yong seems incredibly intelligent.

  17. Ed Yong – brilliant science writer. His excellent analysis of America’s woefully poor response to the pandemic, published in The Atlantic, is well worth a read:

Its’ leader is already on his knees. Especially when he meets putin.

  20. The virus didn’t do this. Trump and his boot lickers did this. They’re the reason that it’s as bad as it is here.

    • just blame the chinese……. then the virus will “magically go away”.

if trump shoot 69 missiles into china, like he did to syria……… all our problems will go away!

    • @Sask Sun seekers it will “magically go away”.

    • @Steve Fitts Funny how the only real absentee ballot fraud case we have was the REPUBLICAN campaign consultant in NC harvesting unfilled ballots and completing them himself. Y’all just know you’re incredibly outnumbered, and obstructing the polls is all you have left. And it’s working.. so enjoy it while it lasts. It won’t.

    • Naw it’s the Dems and their pathetic Snowflake victim agenda lmfao. Y’all will learn
