US hits Russia with sanctions, expels diplomats

The Biden administration targeted Russia with sweeping sanctions and diplomatic expulsions, punishing Moscow for its interference in the 2020 US election, its SolarWinds cyberattack and its ongoing occupation and "severe human rights abuses" in Crimea. CNN’s Alex Marquardt reports and Nic Robertson breaks down the diplomatic repercussions of the sanctions.

    1. I am in Europe and today again a major network played those freakish tapes of that freak CNN network manager Jeff Zucker telling his news staff to lie! This is why US news has no credibility! Why is CNN still polluting the air waves worldwide? Zucker should be in prison! Concerning Fauci? Doesn’t the US have exams that people have to pass to become doctors. He consistently gives incorrect information!

    2. @Creek Walker That’s it, nothing but words. You understand that you can invent anything and refer to “intelligence data”? Moreover, the cases of lies were already, for example, a story with alleged Hussein’s weapons of mass lesions. I do not argue that Russia is white and fluffy, but any prosecution must be confirmed by evidence

    3. @Piotr Trebisz did they also upload malware to Europe’s power grids, spy on EU citizens and stole intellectual property on a industrial scale like America did under O’Bama and Biden with the help of GCHQ in England

    4. @TRUMP 2024 Yes its a youtube comment dude. You dont need to be super specific for ppl to understand what ur saying…. most ppl anyways lol

  1. Charlie Chesters recent interviews make me skeptic about what you’re telling me is the “ truth.”

    1. @Sdfp If you don’t like their policy, don’t visit their website. I canceled my twitter account many years ago. But still, it’s a private company who doesn’t hold their users captive. They don’t do any provable harm, like putting toxic drugs on the market, or building unsafe houses. They, along with other hightech companies, were repeatedly accused of doing nothing to stop the spread of fake news on their platforms – at that time, very specifically in relation to Russian propaganda. They do what they can, in part at least min response to that pressure. They’d get into similar trouble again if they didn’t do anything.

    2. America and the civilized world have right to oversee companies that are promoting subversion you can’t give refuge to domestic terrorist

    3. @Florin Jurcovici You are remarkably brainwashed. I truly pity your arrogance. One day you’ll come to realise, that when you know how to think, it empowers you far beyond those who know only what to think.

    4. @Marseille You know what I find remarcabile? That most often people that contradict me have something to say about me, never about _what_ I’m saying. Even though they obviously don’t know me. Whether I’m brainwashed or not doesn’t change the facts. If that’s all you can say, all I can deduce is that you’re more interested about judging me than reasoning about facts.

  2. Charlie Chester says hello.I really enjoyed his Project Veritas premiere. You know who else used propaganda like he admitted you guys do? That’s right folks ,the Knatzees. You are no different.

    1. @E. W. Yes, as the USSR became poorer in the late 1970s and early 1980s, it became harder and harder for soviet propaganists to sell the captive population the false narrative of “sinister foreign foes”. It’s hard to worry about made up foreign enemies when there’s no food in your fridge. The same fate awaits Putin and his kleptocrats as befell the USSR in the end.

  3. Theres a new sheriff in town. Giving inside info to Russia suuuuuure sounds like collusion to me.

  4. The cardboard has already been ordered, so the US can send Putin a stiff letter when Russian invades the Ukraine.

    1. @Nigel Johnson The US had military maneuvers and military advisors in the Ukraine, so of course Russia gets nervous when the US mess next to their boarder. The same principle like in Kuba with the other side around. Also Selenskyj talked about getting nukes, you know your relations to Iran for the same arguments? Should Russia send agents like Isreael to kill a physic researcher or what? You do one thing and are offended or feel provoked when other countries do the exact same shady things. That’s just bigotry

    2. @Ravan Pee the number of U.S. troops in Ukraine is no where near the numbers of Russian forces on the border, which is why Biden’s military options are limited, and therefore drastic. Worse, Putin maybe relying on incomplete intelligence regarding US capabilities.

    3. @Nigel Johnson Dude, why are there sanctions against Cuba until this day? Because the US recognize this as their backyard without foreign military interference. Please hold yourself to the same standards

    4. @Ravan Pee I doubt if the sanctions against Cuba still have anything to do with a military threat, it is more likely economic.

    5. @Nigel Johnson It’s a strategic move to put pressure on them. War is (just) the continuation of politics by other means. Exil-Cubans are a big voter group in Florida and revange for the Pig Bay disaster to sugercoat the feelings/image of some high-level agency hats. There were hundreds of failed assassination atempts against Castro, a few very strange one btw – that’s more a personal vendetta from some top-level guys than logical reason to make strategic progress. Cuba is total irrelevant for global foreign policy today

    1. @Greg Bors Get back to us in a few months to a year. 59% ain’t that great at this stage, where was it two months ago? Higher? Lol

    2. @Roman Legion Nope. Biden’s current approval rating is his highest ever as President. It’s been slowly but consistently rising since he took office. Maybe it’s because he actually works and doesn’t golf three days a week, I dunno 🤷‍♂️

  5. 4:40a in Russia. Doesn’t look like the St. Petersberg troll farm has come online yet. They’ll be jumping all over this story. Putin has the best press that money can buy.
