  1. Stop getting close to them. Stop feeding them. Humans are the problem. We have bears in our yards all the time, where I live, and they aren’t ever a problem until the tourists show up.

  2. tourists, “hey, you’re the reason we got kicked out buds”. bear, “you’re the reason my family starved to death”

  3. Bear to her friend: β€œSo here I am minding my own business when I find the trail blocked by four humans. They are going slow and start doing a dance. And they’re like: this is our trail! Finally I just went around them.

  4. I have them in my yard every night, do not leave anything to attract them out and grow some extra garden and fruit.

  5. Sad day when we think wildlife in conservation areas and parks don’t belong there. It’s the kind of thinking that has allowed for the clear cutting of forests and the pollution of our air and lakes. It’s got to stop.

It’s a Canadian bear. (S)he was just being polite and making sure they got home OK.

  8. OMG you see a bear stay away for it. Just slowly back up and walk away but keep an eye on it. Plus if your hiking or in a camping park have bear spray on hand just in case.

  10. Trudeau: “This is unacceptable in a modern democracy. We are drafting a bill to combat bearphobia.”

  11. Because of the reduced camping crowds in many parts of B.C. & somewhat chaotic displacement caused by fires, there seem to be larger populations of wildlife in areas frequented by humans.

In more rural settings, I’ve noted a lot more bear over the past couple of summers than previously, as well.

Unfortunately, some really dense campers leave food scraps in recreation sites, because they’re too lame to take everything home, or, purposefully do so to create issues for other campers.

  13. I get the feeling the Whistler bear was just idling along waiting for the ‘dang hoomans’ to clear the trail. Sort of like being stuck behind a slow car.
