The argument against a living wage is it will hurt business….
Here’s some arguments on the other side.
Every business will have more customers.
Every American would be able to save up something to start a small business.
We should stop subsidizing, Wal-Mart, Amazon and every other company by allowing them to pay less than a living wage, requiring additional expenses by tax payers.
We pay for food stamps, we pay for state Medicaid… And we pay increased health costs because Medicaid patients have to repeatedly visit hospitals for treatment, because D student doctors are who state Medicaid assigns people to, and they routinely refuse to help people with no physical examinations, no tests, and no care… Because they can still charge the state for the visit, while using zero dollars in medical supplies.
American medical insurance is a con game that deliberately doesn’t pay for covered care, can change your contract any any time… And drops people for being too sick.
Every other first world country gets more care for less money.
Oh and instead of artificially keeping people poor, we can actually improve everyone’s standard of living… Except for the extremely rich, who already have everything they’ll need for the next thousand generations.
Seventy five percent of illegals pay local, state and federal taxes.
And pay about seven billion annually into Social Security.

@B. T. the precious market fills the demand for labour people don’t want to do as they whinge is big clue. Qatar & Kuwaits exploited immigrant labour from the subcontinent is not dissimilar to our problem, except the US birth rate is a real worry. In decline, lowest in 35yrs & unable to sustain growth = future taxpayers. Just lost 500,000 adults to the virus. The US needs lots of immigration if it wants to maintain growth. Like years ago to be honest.

I mean, is all good, but can I also become a citizen after 3 years? I came here legally with a work visa and waited 6 years for my green card and now I need to wait 5 years
I’m an international student at a top public college in the US with a 3.9 GPA. I wanna work for the USA. Sadly the people here are hellbent on sending me back. It’s 100x harder to get a job for non-immigrant student visa holders given the covid situation. But I’m strong. I’m fighting. I’m not among the mediocre. I got a job offer from Apple. But wait, the xenophobes at US Customs and Immigration Services won’t grant me my legally rightful 1 year of employment time for getting technical training after graduation due to “processing delays”. I’m dead 😂. Still fighting an increasingly uphill battle though.
You Americans with a US citizenship have a sea of opportunities, mind you. Yet many don’t even value it, perform crimes, take drugs and whatnot. Please make good use of your citizenship and of the time you’re alive and functioning 🙏.
