Velshi: Being The Best Kind Of Ally | MSNBC

The horrific Georgia shooting that left eight people dead, six of whom were Asian women, has had a chilling impact on Asians in American, especially in light of the recent surge in violence against them. This anti-Asian rhetoric is unfortunately nothing new, it has a long and troubling history in America dating back to the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 – a law specifically designed to prevent Chinese American laborers from entering the country. To make matters worse, the former president of the United States engaged in using the AAPI community as a scapegoat when it comes to COVID-19 and paved the way for his supporters to follow suit. For the rest of us, who were not part of the problem, we now have a chance to be part of the solution.» Subscribe to MSNBC:

  1. Agree. I will continue to be an ally for my Asian sisters n brothers 🙏🏿👏🏿👍🏿👊🏿

    1. @Ebaneezer Scourge sadly often they are the one doing the systematic racism , and now where they are beng held accountable for their words nd actions they cry cancel culture and unfair , my brother is korean adopted , i dont know how many times police have stopped him driving alone in his car , but if i sit next to him waved along .. so why should i stand with racist people .. i stand with peopel who show an open mind , and dont jugde skin clolour or ethnic background .. rest can what is they saying burn in ….

    1. What if all of the massage parlors in his area are Asian owned..? Then it’s not racial anymore — it’s incidental.

  2. I do not understand hate like this. It boggles the mind. What is wrong with these people that turn them so to hate. Humans are not ment to be like this, or so I thought.

  3. How about the community gets together and joins a service organization such as rotary, Kiwanis, or Lyons clubs. Working side-by-side with different ethnicities from your community will help you understand the importance of a diverse Society

    1. You are so right we stand with our asian brothers and sisters and their mothers and fathers God is Love 💞💞

  4. Men could do so very much more to protect women. I find it staggering that men who love women don’t step up as a matter of course.

    1. @T C , Alright, since you haven’t reported my replies to you lately, I’m here for you. What’s the problem? Where does your anger come from?
I’m a teacher and I know kids who were abused in horrific ways. I even took down the parents of these kids. I considered it my duty.
I’m proud of that. I’m not sure why you reported my very civil replies to you but there’s obviously something wrong. You don’t need to spill it all here, but just know that I understand. Take care my friend and good luck to you.

    2. @T C, Okay, I deleted any mean replies to you myself. Are you interested in starting over? I’m all ears.

  5. Sympathy to the families. Together Pray for one another while doing good works to unify all. We must work as one Nation . Created by and ruled by Love. In my opinion

  6. Politics has been dangerous games from generation to generation! Expressing one’s position towards the mediums repotting would never be correct! Be at nutritional position with one’s own observation would avoid making mistakes!

  7. Please keep presenting this perspective…..it fuels hope that there IS something I as a white-coloured person can do to be an ally and contribute to the elimination of racism in all its forms.

    1. So none of all the things he listed is something you can do? It doesn’t matter what color you are.
Unless of course your a white supremacist racist that was just being sarcastic with your comments.

    2. @Larry Nottingham I only trust people on merit, not skin color. If an individual doesn’t warrant meritorious acceptance they will not achieve it.

    3. @Larry Nottingham I think you misread/misunderstood me…….I am happy to know there IS something(S) I can do. I’m relieved I’m not the only one wondering. No sarcasm here, I am heartsick at the situation but have felt helpless.

  8. We should all be purely intolerant of intolerance and stand up for everyone and equality every time.
    #EqualityMovement #EmpathyRevolution #SomosUno

    1. Intolerant of intolerance huh 🤔? Do you tolerate people you like or dislike? The left has become a sad sad cautionary tale.

    1. That would be everyone except Native American. Even they came across the landbridge from Asia however.

  9. Thank you for teaching a little bit of Asian American history that was not taught in history class, and for encouraging people to be supportive to us. In the comments section, I see far too many denialists or people who won’t take the issue seriously still, so it’s encouraging to see and hear large platforms putting out positive messages rather than focusing on whether or not the recent shootings were hate crimes.

  10. rich stay rich by spending like the poor and investing without stopping then the poor stay poor by spending like the rich yet not investing like the rich

    1. In few years or so, people will definitely be kicking themselves in regrets for missing the opportunity to buy and invest in cryptocurrency.
