Velshi: The Death of Shame | MSNBC 1

Everything is different now, and one thing with which we will struggle in this new day for America is the death of shame. In addition to the other norms the former president destroyed, he turned lying – deliberate, casual and often with the force of law – into an art form and, with that, contributed to the death of shame. If we as humans do not feel shame in doing something wrong, or in getting caught doing something wrong, what guardrails exist? When the powerful can’t be embarrassed by the bad choices they make, people suffer, democracy erodes, institutions crumble, justice is strangled and lies proliferate.» Subscribe to MSNBC:

  1. Trump, GOP and the Trump family are SHAMELESS.

  2. Shame went out the door years ago. Corporations get away with poisoning, corruption, bankruptcy and no individual is held accountable. Think about it.

“The standard you walk past, is the standard you accept.”

  4. YES! I watched, holding my breath. Their lies need to be addressed and accountability is in order for us to right our selves

  5. There’s *NOTHING* in American political history that *reeks of corruption* like *WHAT* #45✳’s *done* …even the infamous “Teapot Dome” scandal *DIDN’T* involve *selling out* American allies *TO* dictators. 😒

  6. His tombstone will read: Here lies Donald Trump……….as usual.

    The absence of Shame ,
    Ruins the Integrity game ,
    Bring dishonor to family name,

  8. When all of us start prioritizing the greater good above narrow self-interest, we will be able to resolve conflicts/disagreements without dehumanizing or degrading each other.

  9. brilliantly said, ty mr velsi. they had no shame, and made the rest of us ashamed.

    • I often wonder if these room temp IQs that keep listening to Fox will ever join the rest of the world.

      @BonerMaroner nope

    • @BonerMaroner us ” room temp low IQ’s” don’t watch fox. We want low gas prices, quality health care with low health care costs, low interest rates, low taxes, freedom to start and run a business without government wanting a hand out at every turn, businesses not getting sued every time aome sensitive liberal gets their feelings hurt, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, women’s sports, the right to feel safe in our streets because America punishes criminals, no war, and free and fair trade. But I guess we are to stupid to think we are entitled to the free pursuit of happiness and success without being controlled by the government and idiotic liberals that think they know better how to live other people’s lives. I guess you baby killing child molesting liberals just have it all figured out. Shame on us.

  10. The GOP has no shame. They actually have to have consequences for 4 years of lying and lawlessness. Most of us want justice and we are looking at you Democrats to provide it. Show strength for once and go after all concerned.

  11. It’s not the death of shame, but rather the rise of sociopathy. Sociopaths feel no shame.

I feel the death of all American values can be attributed to the birth of bank balance values. Greed and power rule. Trump has shown the way. No values required to run the most powerful country on earth, except $$$. You can lie about everything, care about nothing and be worshipped as a god. He might be out of power, but so long as you all tolerate greed, the bubble won’t burst.

    • @Sam Harris Sorry Trump put himself first.

    • exactly what the saul alinsky leftists say “by any means necessary”. You are a sociopath if you believe that.

    • Democratics!!!!!!!

    • @Gary Campbell The Joe Biden Method….Come on man just Plagiarize it

It is like what Laura Ingalls said: If you use profanity as an everyday language – the meaning becomes lost when the swearing is truly warranted .

  14. His Lying as an art form is more
    like paint by number.

You’ve got Josh Hawley to a “T”… Ted Cruz does not even count.. a has been do nothing, Marco Rubio does not really know which wsy is up, but that Hawley nightmare… ambition on steroids without shame or remorse… Get rid of him now..

  16. I’m afraid this genie isn’t going back in the bottle.

  17. Lying is the least of it, when those telling the truth are shouted down and stifled and “alternative reality” is force fed to us all.

  18. Though shame has failed,
    Law may yet prevail,
Balance be upon the justice scale
& put shameless MF’s in jail.

    Thus Endeth this tale.

  19. OMGawd! What an Amesomely, Empowering Statement – “The Death of Shame.”
