Venice flooded after new US$8-billion dam fails


MOSE, a massive flood system installed in Italy, failed after the forecast erroneously predicted a lower rise.

  1. The dam did not fail, they just did not close it early enough. And that was because they did not take account of the rainfall that fed the rivers entering the sealed lagoon from the storm. Improved forecasting should help fix that.
