    1. @dj 50 1side music have a bigger influence on the youth than movie, you don’t have to tell a child to dance, if a baby hear music they dance. Music is universal language, reggae music help to free people in Africa, music also free the mind, but not the kind of music that is singing now a days.

  1. Dance hall is definitely a contributing factor of crime, no matter how unno justify it with unno high flown language 2 the contrary. De hungry boy weh tief me money neva tek it buy food. So unno stop wailing bout how hungry dem is.

  2. Music is the rod and we are Moses, leading God children to the promise land. Now look where they leading the youths. The men in every society teach the youths how to act, it’s a shame that the men in our society don’t take responsibility. Not the politicians not the entertainers not the police , no one. Our kids Need rescue from us.

  3. The youths singing from the perspective of the gunman and not the victims. You adults should be ashamed of some of what you sing for the kids, worst part they are specifically targeting the kids.

  4. Ok Donna, after listening to you I realized jamaica has No Hope. Basically what you are saying is that Chop and gun songs are justified because people want money. It’s like losing one’s soul to gain the world.

  5. Mi grow up in a Ghetto and Music was and is our air yes mi a tell you Music and movie contribute greatly tp crime an mayhem

  6. We r always going b in this state or worse if we keep this term:Who was first the chicken or the egg( what influenced what).. in my perspective music that is spoken whether on an instrument or by mouth firstly…, then the media or trend..(which entales electronic or visual then it becomes the trend).. hence that breeds the culture..eg. the term radam, or normal mi naa lie…who first said those frazes and now it is a trend turn apart of the culture..so whether good or bad as soon as the ear hears it been repeatedly saying the mind adapts..doesn’t mean everyone one will conform but sometimes even when we hate the thing ,just by hearing it repeatedly without even knowingly do or saying it we do ..

  7. No disrespect to my elders but many of these people use to or still watch violence movies an let their kids play violence games so it’s not the music alone white man thing is different from the black man thing

  8. Muta talking facts , Donna Hope spewing fallacy . Government should fine every Artiste one hundred two hundred thousand dollars for every gun song they make and use the money install cctv cameras in every where possible in the country .

  9. Every days we question the link between dance hall music and violence (they both go together),
Every day we question the link between poverty and crime, they don’t go together, criminals have half a million dollar value gun(how are they in poverty)when they could afford to buy is for do much, and on the other hand can also sell it and gain so much, it’s not going to get better, it would take the next 30 years plus a miracle, that’s the sad truth.

  10. It’s so good that I didn’t complete the entertainment course at UWI with Donna Hope cause it look like she really nahve nuh sense bro. If she can really suggest/downplay the powerful impact and influence of music, it’s outrageous to see that knowing that she’s a professor that would be teaching kids.

  11. To me dancehall is a reflection of our surroundings…if we didnt have a violent society in the first place there woudnt be any violent music. For eg. Chip glocks are gaining popularity island wide, and i do agree that the music influences that but if there wasnt a “chip glock” in the first place u would not have any songs about it. As is the case with drug usage(molly)…if molly was not invented u would not have songs about it……
