‘Wake Up!’: Dem Vet Calls For Party To Be More ‘Relevant,’ ‘Diverse’ After Iowa Chaos | MSNBC

Prominent Democratic figure James Carville joins MSNBC to discuss the results from the Iowa caucus. In a wide ranging interview, Carville slammed his Democratic party for the “concerning” results calculation in Iowa, saying it is “not going particularly well.” Carville argues polls indicate “enthusiasm among Democrats is not as high as we might like it.” Carville also called on the Party to “wake up” and “talking about relevant things,” and get back to having “strong, diverse” candidates. Carville also praised Elizabeth Warren for having “the best bio he has ever seen in a presidential candidate,” but adds she has to “get serious” on finishing her campaign. Aired on 02/4/20.

    1. @580 Mafia Records Then you’re part of the problem. Do you want 4 more years of Trump? Does that sound like a fun time to you? I’m a Bernie supporter but I will be voting for ANYONE who ends up on the democratic ticket, and so should you unless you fancy Nazi Germany.

    2. @Nikki Kennedy Keep calling your average American who disagrees with you on policy a Nazi and you will continue to lose. My god the democratic party has gone insane. Never voting for another democratic again until this kind of hate stops.

  1. Y’all just refuse to acknowledge Bernie. He’s it. With a nice centrist or moderate that can help cross the isle. We cannot dismiss our republican fellows.

    1. No. If you would have said ‘We cannot dismiss our Republican fellows’ five years ago, I might have been on board. But these aren’t Republicans. Republicans – real Republicans – have some semblance of integrity. They are virtuous. They rarely play the victim.

Trump has turned the Republican party into traitors. He welcomes foreign assistance in elections, they encourage by helping him cover it up. It’s sickening what Republicans have become: An added layer of national security risk.

There is no going back now. No compromise. These wretched scum need to be voted out in November along with their petulant godhead. Instead of working with this nasty, virulent form of the Republican party, Democrats need to bury it.

  2. The Russian and foreign interference is working again. The internet is the wild west of the electronic age. So many anonymous people and lies and manipulation. *Dangerous*

    1. José de Jesus you would you’re as brain dead as her. I thought boys who change their gender change they’re name to why you keep calling yourself Jose?
You’re proof that boys who take female hormones it not only affects the body but the mind

    2. José de Jesus I agree death to Putin. But you keep him alive. Must be your God or something that’s all you talk about putin russia russia russia. Ridiculous

  3. Establishment and corporate Dems are done. They need to WAKE UP and SMELL reality. Progressive Leadership is the FUTURE of the Democratic party.

    1. Terri Freeman: Best way to do that is to take over the DEMS Party. How do we do that, you ask? By all of us becoming registered Democrats. It would put us into those closed primaries designed to keep Bernie out. Our votes there would translate into more delegates at the Convention. It would silence the purists threat of staying home if Bernie loses which he won’t with all those extra delegates. And best of all, after Bernie wins the election, it puts us in the tent as the winning majority ready to rebuild the party infrastructure to meet the needs of the people not the donor class. Sure beats being on the outside waving our pitchforks to no avail.
We are stuck for now in a two party system. One is already in league with the devil. The other has a history of working for the people but in recent times has lost its way. This is a golden opportunity to return the party to its roots so we can have a better future for all of us. With Bernie in the Oval Office and progressives in power we can finally enter the 21st Century with polices that will tackle the crises that will bring humanity to its end, if we don’t start doing something about them.

    2. Zeno of Citium We forgot. It’s not the place of Bernie supporters to make excuses. We don’t go around claiming to be tough alphas but refuse to stand out in the rain to honor the fallen at Flanders field. We don’t call lies “alternative facts”. And we don’t claim to be tough patriots that use “bone spurs” to avoid the draft.

    1. @Jon Z does anyone even know what precincts the numbers are coming from? Is the outstanding vote distributed in areas that favor any particular candidate? Doesn’t seem clear and so it’s irresponsible to call it.

An objective journalist wound interject and point out that it is really close (2% diff) and no one has any idea where the rest of the vote (a material amount) is coming from.

    1. No, he’s not. This is not a conspiracy, and it wasn’t a conspiracy in 2016. Bernie is a great guy and a bad presidential candidate. He is a 78 year old cardiac patient applying for the most stressful job in politics in the most consequential race in our history. I could mention other things here but that’s just insurmountable.

    2. Well, the entire democrat machine couldn’t even frame a President. What do you expect?

    1. David Hale The Democratic Party, for all its problems, is no plantation. You can leave any time you want to unlike a real plantation.

  4. I love it when a plan comes together, Bernie came to the people with a flicker and the people fed that flicker into a flame, soon the flame will become a fire that will burn into a roaring blaze.

  5. Why is Carville congratulating Pete? The numbers are not in. The way I heard it, Sanders’ campaign has its own app that collected all the relevant numbers and is having a (necessary) conversation with the admin of the IOWA Democratic Campaign right now.

  6. Mr. Carville says one thing I do agree with “Tom Perez needs to go!” BTW, “analysts” only 62% of the data is reported how can you draw conclusions other than Biden appears to be out of the race?

  7. Caucus is an antiquated process. Iowa loves their status of being first but really it doesn’t mean much overall. Iowa isn’t a true reflection of the country overall.

    1. Speak for yourself socialist. I don’t know anyone but long forgotten friends who’ve loved democrats or communist socialists. They’re long forgotten because they chose to not be my friend when I didn’t agree with their leftist ideology.

    2. He did not mention Sanders because he does not want to promote Bernie’s name. He has confused Sanders with the British Labour Party. I am not American and I would say that Sanders has more personality and drive alone than the entire British Labour Party. Sanders represents the vast majority of working Americans. Sanders does not represent the fat slobs who do nothing, but he does represent people who want to work and get a fair wage.

    3. When Bernie promises to give away the store………..IF YOU JUST VOTE FOR HIM…..well?

    4. Bernie has worn chains, been arrested, been jailed, been on picket lines, bought demonstrators food, and is too down to earth to walk on air or water, feet firmly planted on ground. What more do you want?

  8. The thing that I see is that no one calls out democrats as being the same corporate welfare party that Republicans are

  9. The dems have always been seen as weak. Cause we squabble about who’s the biggest victim and meaningless stuff no one cares about and hold some moral high ground that doesn’t exist
