  1. I have no faith that the GOP members of congress have any decency left whatsoever. The video evidence was shocking and they ignore it and looked the other way will the video were shown.

    1. Some gop actually left the chamber. Heaping additional shame on whatever shreds of a gop party that is left.

    2. And yet, somehow, we still manage to convince ourselves to expect impartial and unbiased conduct from these “jurors,” even when we have ample evidence to the contrary. Bottom line: No amount of evidence will sway those determined to acquit.

    3. @MoonInSun108 You can’t shame the shameless. They all have blood on their hands for enabling that monster for 4 years.

    4. Hope springs eternal. The hypocrites that are easily blown by the political wind like Cruz and Graham will not surprise us but a few that want to be on the right side of history could.

  2. The whole impeachment trial is disgusting unbelievable the evidence is there and has been since 6th January True should already be behind bars with his enablers and to think the GOP are behaving liking nothing happened I for one think American democracy is really in trouble

    1. @Smith Kuenne Red really showed their colors. Ideally 1 less than 2/3 blue in both houses to keep Dems honest. 50/50 doesn’t work with Repubs using the filibuster.

    2. @Wayne Norris While i disagree with them the Libertrains are the true “loyal optison” not the republicans we don’t need the republican party to keep dems honest

    1. It gives every member of the Senate … especially Republicans … an opportunity to get on the right side of History. Really hope McConnell will surprise us … and that he will have told his fellow Republicans before the vote that he intends to vote to convict, giving them incentive and cover to do so as well.

    1. @Jock Young They were the Tories in the colonies…they got herded up, their property stolen, and sent to Canada. Terrorist depends upon who wins.

    2. @Dale Hartley Yes. Oliver Wiswell by Kenneth Roberts shows that sentiment beautifully. King George, like Trump, was a tyrannical leader who used every measure at his disposal to retain power.

    1. The firing of four top Pentagon officials after Nov. 4th, replacing them with Trump boys. The scheme to fire the head of the F.B.I. and replace him with Mike Flynn, and also make him chief of staff, then going along with Flynn to declare marshall law. The D.C. police chief was heard begging one of those Trump replacements for 4 hours before help arrived. This was planned way back in 2020. Why don’t these democrats use this?

  3. There are other members ofcongress that need to be held accountable for their part as well. Nip it now or it will come back to haunt…

  4. Trump tried to overthrow the lawful government of the U.S. Now he must pay the price. If Republicans in the Senate won’t hold him accountable, there are other means.

    1. That is no longer a sufficient excuse to not standing in defence of democracy. How are they representing the collective interests snd will of the American people of they behave and posture like a bunch of sycophantic yes men?

    1. T rump’s lawyers actually acknowledged that T rump LOST the election. T rump’s cult, however, will never “hear” that.

    1. This is how Democracy works. If we don’t like their decisions, we vote them out. Hopefully, they remain fully aware of that as they ponder their decision.

  5. The key to this, legalisticly, is to show his intent. That said, this will be decided by political self interest and not legal arguments.

  6. I wonder what theyd be saying if they had actually hung mike pence. Would they still be defending trump? Probably.

  7. With right hands raised, the senators were sworn in as jurors:

*”Do you solemnly swear that in all things appertaining to the impeachment trial of Donald John Trump, former president of the United States, now pending, you will do impartial justice according to the Constitution and laws, so help you God?”*

Senators Sworn-In For Second Trump Impeachment Trial – Jan. 26, 2021

  8. What consequence should there be for the GOP who choose delusion over reality, support the insurrection, and reject impeachment?

  9. For future HISTORY in the books and for future generation to read, we need to know who these 44 SENATORS are, not courageous enough to defend our CONSTITUTION and the CAPITOL HILL.
